Hi Ivan, although I haven't been told the exact process of how this incredible level of detail is achieved, I'm pretty sure they're cast. Unfortunately, the mask on this forum cuts off a large chunk from the right side of the picture, so you can't see the attachment points from the casting-block to the barrel.
