Finished Revell's P-47D with quite some mistakes, mostly due to incorrect Revell decals and instructions. According to photos, the bull should be totally black. Also revell's instructions does not mention the red wingtips, and incorrectly placed underwing insignia. Some P-47 had insignia on both sides underneath the wings, but probably this one didn't! The kit is a really excellent one, and the quality of the decals was the best I've yet found from Revell. Finish is Alcad Alu with some other shades for some panels. Then coated with Klear, which was also used to apply the decals, and finished with Alclad varnish straight from the bottle.

i agree with Marco, it is much darker than the canopy framing and if that was red, there is no way the bull was the same colour.

Re: Revell P-47D in 1/72nd
Thank you to everyone who commented on this one! Marco, well especially Marco, on closer inspection of the photo, it seems that the bull is not completely one solid black lump, but there is a line in the middle and the Revell decal corresponds to that line! But it might have been a much darker shade of brown, although B&W film can be very misleading especially in the red/brown end of the colour spectrum. As regards the profiles, I don't trust any of them any more: I found too much mistakes in them already!

Nice job on the natural metal finish, this was sure a huge fighter during the war.
Is much of anything visible in the cockpit through the canopy? I have a couple 1/72 aircraft and I was wondering how much detail needed to be put into the cockpit's?
