Issa..... some progress on the Spit....... nothing special but will make the cockpit look a bit busy. Remember, I'm not going for the full 99% detail... I just want to build decent fairly accurate kits. So Marco, the blades of the He111 have to stay! Are that they different, anyway?

I sanded the the door of the cockpit of the Gloster and detailed it myself. It's very tiny, you know!

Re: Battle Of Malta - SPIT NEXT!
Thank you friends.
A small update on the Spit. Most of the time is being consumed with filling large gaps and sanding. Not a very good kit this Italeri... Arfix are 10 times better!

You know.... when I pause and look at the Spitfire........ that's what I say..... "Kemm hu sabieh"..... what a beautiful plane it is... and that is the joy of building it.

I'm very pro German and all things German are beautiful for me...... but the Spitfire... the Spitfire outclasses every other plane........ till today!

Re: Battle Of Malta - SPIT NEXT!
Noel, apart from being a good fighter which totally proved itself in the various variants, it combined aesthetic beauty with power. It is more graceful than either the 109 or the FW. Those were lovely aircraft but portrayed brute strength without being graceful in my opinion anyway. Maybe the Me262 was as nice designwise. Those slim elliptical wings made the spitfire stick out from the rest! Now you will see how much nicer it will look painted since you are opting for a desert scheme.

Ghandu punt hawn, fil-bidu l-ispitfire kien interessanti imma d-disinn tipiku ingliz ma evolvix hafna [forsi ghax kien tajjeb bizzejed?] jekk tara Me109 kien ikrah u kaxxa u sar streamlined u tond ... personali bhali disinn ta fighter overall nipreferixxi Mustang, kien jidher li fih potenza u speed ... imma bhal dejjem opinjoni u kulhadd ghandu wahda

Re: Battle Of Malta - SPIT NEXT!
The more powerful griffon engine and the cut down rear fuselage dictated the change in shape of the spitfire along with more powerful armament options, while from an 'evolutionary' point of view the 109 was a dead end even obsolete before the war ended. The Fw190 was a much more capable and adaptable aircraft

Re: Battle Of Malta - SPIT NEXT!
In Fact it was the Spitfire that won the Battle of Briton and eventually the Battle for Malta.
Without the Spitfire History would have been different.
The Spitfire saved many pilot lives by out turning the 109. It could even take a severe battering and still make it home.
As Joe said... the ME 109 was already obsolete when the war ended.

Re: Battle Of Malta - SPIT NEXT!
Anyone knows?
I'm about to start some chipping on the Gladiator but I'm not sure if it had some fabric parts.
Was the rear fuselage the only part in fabric?

Most of the Gladiator was fabric except for the forward nose area.
