Sometimes in dios one has to take off what is logical and how things were properly done to achieve the clear message ... hints always help ...

Again agreed with Ivan 102%
Looks like it's a sort of good natured conspiracy against you Brian
Joking apart, as Ivan said.. in Dios, sometimes, logic do not INSTANTLY HIT the viewer's eye with a clear enough message, hence you have to sacrifice it in those circumstances & "help"

Re: Two Me 163 komets
you made your point, i will hesitatingly add a couple of empty tins of 76 paint. I really feel it is time i work on something else now. So that is the final adjustment. But as i always do i will take up your advice.

Nothing will get lost anzi will please more the idea to scrutinize detail, one suggestion I think it still need a red bucket paint near the plane, underneath it or on that step ladder ... will give it more the idea ... Important it willbe on the front of the dio not the back ... What do you think?
You see Brian what I told you ... what Ivan sad ....( red bucket paint near the plane )........

But now it is crystal clear that the plane is being repainted blue/grey. DO i have to make a sign too???? Yesterday i placed an overturned bucket of paint in front of the red plane. Will post a couple of pics first chance i get.

Seems like this is going to be a most modelling unfriendly winter ever. No sign of those nice rainy Sundays when no one wants to go out so you just cuddle up with your plastic, metal and resin and do your magic.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Thanks Ivan, i wish you could have seen it in real life, looks much better than in the pics. I might be tempted to bring it over again if you tell me that you will be there but I am sure that the rest of the guys have had enough of it. I posted over 300 pics and took it to the club in various stages about three times. But i would really love you to see it sinc eyou were the one who instigated me to do it. Have a good Christmas

Re: Two Me 163 komets
I read the post regarding the paint............ I have one question: Does it really matter what one thinks the colour the plane is being painted?
I don't see you have to give a clear message to that point at all.
The attention to detail, and there are lots of them is what makes this diorama great, apart from the fact that it is also an original approach.
Must look fantastic to see it live!

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Hi Noel, in this case it does because this dio is representing an episode which really happened. The comet was painted red for the CO's first operational mission and he did not like the idea. The ground crew repainted it after the mission, that is what it depicts.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Experimenting with the box dio concept. From my trials i think i like it and i will definitely go for it. I need to get some decent lights and do some more trials but the concept is there and i don;t think that any detail went missing. Maybe a bit under the dismantled plane but with the proper amount of lighting, it will come to light. I need your opinions on this one. My idea was to flood the entire area with warm white light so that one can see everything and no detail is lost. Then i flooded the two important areas in the scene, the group of men seeing the spraying process and the dismantled plane with a cold white beam so that these areas are made prominent. In my opinion it works and your eyes are immediately taken on to the group of men in the centre of the dio. Then you start noting the other detail. Opinions please. I am sorry but the pics are the best i could do. As usual, it looks much better in real life. It will have two sides in glass, the exposed ones and all the light embedded in the ceiling which will be a light box and close everything up. I like it, what do you think?

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Prosit Brian for taking the boxed dio route, I'm sure you wont be disappointed. I like and prefer the spot lighting, it makes them stand out and draw the viewer's attention to the areas where the story is happening. I'm not sure about the colour temperature of the lighting . John Reid used warm white in his Fokker diorama if I remember well, but that was WW1. Did they have fluorescent lights at during that time or only incandescent? I don't know I'm asking...Insomma BOMBA gejja man

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Ray, its not what colour they had. I just want to draw attention to certain parts of the dio and that can be done with the light. If you think it doesn't make sense it can all be lit up with the same type of lighting. Actually less of a hassle to do that. Personally i don;t really like the warm lighting, it changes the colour perception of everything and you cannot appreciate the correct colours, everything looks yellowish. But in this case, it has set a good atmosphere, like these works were being carried out in a closed hangar or at night. Thanks for the comments.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Yes Brian, I fully-agree about changing the colour perception. Happy modeling my friend!!! I'm working on "Marco's collectors' item Fokker" vignette at the moment and really enjoying some quality time for myself for once in a while.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
I like the idea of a box diorama Brian more, maybe experiment with having some dim LEDs from the sides to illuminate a bit the shadowy areas [mainly under the other Komet], but I like the spot light effect, adds more drama to the story, the wall light washing came great ... one cannot really judge from fotos as boxdios are not fotogenic at all ...
Prosit!
