Thank you all for your kind comments....you are too kind!!
Here is an update of the ground work that I finished this morning
Sand bags made out of Milliput and real sand thrown inside them
Terrain airbrushed with acrylics and pigments applied afterwards
Fox hole with a guard till ammunition and MG is cleared by responsible personnel (mores stuff has to be added, like grenades, spent cartridges, ammo boxes, helmet, Woody sausages)

Re: Sherman Alamein - (READY!!!!!!)
Great work Noel but not to be a qansha but why is the fox hole in the same direction of the British charge, did the Brits attack from behind?
What a difference the brass barrel MGs4 makes ... very nice touch with the darker sand in the foxhole.

According to historian James Helford, a lone Sherman during the battle of Alamein, had made a detour and came up from behind enemy positions to capture an MG nest. Corporal Edward Hansen, commander of the Shermam was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery.
Now the true story........ ..... tanks can move about and this one came to rest next to the MG fox hole. The infantry, however will be walking in the direction of the fox hole indicating the advance. This scene is happening some time after the battle.

Noel

Ah Noel so it's the spoils of war, the aftermath of El Alemein, but next time put a Breda gun not an MG, the Italians were more in nature of taking the run more then Jerries : )
Keep them coming!

@ Thanks Ivan. Well, actually the MG team were captured and lucky to be alive. I will be placing an opened rolled bandage with blood stains and a tunic laid on the floor. The tunic has a bit of the sleeve torn to indicate a bullet or shrapnel hit. Presumably, the German was allowed to remove his jacket and probably seen by a British medic for his wounds before taken as a POW.
I did some work on the fax hole today and will update on photos asap. The diorama should be ready by Friday!
@ THanks Luke!
@ Thanks Brian!

Seeing your work as a beginner it is a bit of a carrot but also I realize that it will take me for ever to come up to your standards!

@ Thanks Alex Kontiveis
@ Thanks Tiny
Here is how the MG nest will look like.
Assuming that the gunner got wounded and captured. A serious wound to his arm is indicated by the bloody bandages and he even took off his tunic, probably helped by a British medic.

Re: Sherman Alamein - (READY!!!!!!)
Noel ... why not show it as well, would be nice to see a wounded German being tended my a British medic, would show the human element after a bloody conflict, viewers would like such a scene ...

Nit picking....
But I'm not too sure I foot print would show up on a sand bag...sand teds to get compressed in a sack and pretty dense...hence there use as barriers...imagine a sack of cement or even flour....
Great scene otherwise...
Is the bandage Duro or Milliput?
