SCRATCHBUILDING A 1/35 SCALE BA 27 ARMOURED CAR. constuction ready

Some 20 odd years ago i scratchbuilt this soviet early 30's armoured car. why am i scratching it again, well after all this time no one as yet has issued an injection molded kit in 1/35 there used to be a not so good resin kit some time ago but this seems to have dissapeared again. another reason is i want to compare the new model to the old one which i still have. in those days information on soviet warmachines was hard to get so i had to build my models from rough and sometimes innacurate scaleplans. today we are blessed (or cursed) with the ammout of information comming out of the ex soviet bloc both as regards to printed and e-information anyway enough said

Amazing as ever Alex.....a real shame that your MODELLING family tree is deformed by a certain Doctor who don't know how to purge the brush or cut a square of plastic sheet (din isbah issa)

It seems you have a soft spot for these type of machines!

Lovely work on another of your trademark ugly beasts. you must have one hell of a unique collection of this kind of AFV. By the way, are you going to coat the balsa with something before spraying?

brian actually it is not balsa but a high gloss coated polystyrene sheet which has been roughly sanded down. i do this so brass and other non plastic parts will have a better grip with s/glue and also give the model a rough texture once painted

Sorry Alex, my mistake i somehow understood that you were building it from Balsa wood. What you are saying makes more sense.

must have missed this one. Coming along very nicely, great work on scratchbuilding and detail. As Ray said - Happy riveting.

Alex, how do you clean up the surface when you notice things aren't ok? Just a sandpaper?

Brilliant work Alex, really nice, what great detail. I don;t envy you putting in all those rivets but they look good and make a great difference to the model.

WHAT????????? A SCRATCHBUILT MG????????? ALEX, WHY DIDN'T YOU CONSULT YOUR VENERABLE COUSIN RE THIS?????????? You could have spent just 17hrs to roll a perforated sheet of PE and avoided the SCRATCHBUILDING!!!!!!!!!!
