WHAT????????? A SCRATCHBUILT MG????????? ALEX, WHY DIDN'T YOU CONSULT YOUR VENERABLE COUSIN RE THIS?????????? You could have spent just 17hrs to roll a perforated sheet of PE and avoided the SCRATCHBUILDING!!!!!!!!!!

lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol! lol!

Ray there were no perforated PE just small PE attachments to pre-fabricated hollow brass barrels + plastic ... just to justify the process bom

But have to say it is very much more complicated to fabricate then any other MG around ...

Post  alexbb Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:13 pm

FINISHED MOST OF THE DETAILING ON THIS ONE. I HAVE TO SAY I WAS NEVER FELT SO DEPRESSED AS REGARDS TO APPLYING RIVETS AS ON THIS ONE. well over 900 revets of 4 different sizes compunded by this hateful and unbearable humid heat every rivet cost me sweat and almost tears.

the wheels where re modelled and re cast

IF I WHERE AN EXAMPLE OF CLEAN CONSTRUCTION I WOULD. ONE OF THE MAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR AN UNPAINTED SCRATCHBUILT MODEL IS THE CLEANLINESS AND PRECISE CONSTRUCTION. ON THESE MODELS FILLER AND SANDING MARKS ARE A NO GO.

maybe one day, WHEN PIGS LEARN TO FLY

    NONETHELESS THANK YOU GUYS

the model was given a black pre shadeing as guideline to the grey green colour. the model will not be painted in the usual 4bo colour but in the much earlier grey green.

heavily diluted tamiya xf56 acryllic was used as the first dark base, after which tamiya deck tan was gradualy added to the basic colour. this was done in four coats increasing the ammount of deck tan after each coat.
