Gordon, you have to fill the windshield with milliput and the end result should look something like these, insert a nail or something to hold the windshield in a vice like in the photo. Next Wed bring the windshield at club and I will provide all the other material and tools, and we will try and vac-u-form it.
We will do some modelling the old way

Maybe Alex can tell you what it is
Joking apart Adrian, milliput is a two part filler, which you knead & it can withstand HEAT, COLD & WATER when it sets and get hard. It can then be sanded and shaped accordingly
There are three types (I stand up for correction as I haven't used it for a while because we figure guys use Magic Sculpt MS nowadays) there is the fine milliput which is white, the standard milliput which is yellow/green/grey & which the Aircraft & AFV Nuts use and there is the terracotta milliput which is the hardest of the three to sand once it sets and dries & is a terracotta colour
You can/may find it at the local ironmonger

Gordon,
I think you did a good job, all you need is to trim the excess milliput from the edges of the windshield, consult the photos I posted, so when we vac-u-form we will have a good replica. I think its better if you remove the framing, I may be corrected here, but its the technique I always used because as we are not using a vac-u-form machine these will not be reproduced correctly, framing edges will be rounded and not sharp. The framing can then be replicated from decal sheet strip or you mask the windshield and leave the framing showing and then spray the colour.
Marco,
Ma l'ebda pilot helmet, those are the Beaufighter windshield and rear gunners glasshouse and the Hurricane's canopoy

Vac-u-form DIY
Guys just a small thread from MIG forum and here Per Olav Lund explains some usefull techniques [similar to what David made], in the progress you'll see a simple DIY vac-u-form machine + vacuum cleaner and the way he tackled the job, heating etc ... for those not with the habit to play with candles!

Yes, infact we managed to vac-u-form two canopies one for Gordon and another one for Antoinne.
Adrian when you want just fill a canopy with Milliput bring it over at club and we will vac-u-form it, just tell me in advance so I bring the material with me.
