Hobby Boss M706 (or V100). A good model...as usual what was intended to be an OOTB model ended up as a detailed one. Used the Eduard PE but it is not essential...left many fittings on the fret as they were required for interior or for the vision blocks which I think are good as they are...Wheels will be replaced by resin ones fom Legend. .30 cal is the excellent offering from ABER. The aerial fitting is from Lionmarc....rest is scratch...
Thanks to cousin Alex Gimli for an invaluable resource CD...

    Happy festivities...

Cool brute, hope you opt for a tattooed tagged MP version then a drab army one ...

Looking forward for this one, plenty to weather and modulate, interesting maybe a weathered redsoiled version, prominent in certain areas of NAM!

PS. What an improvement with those fotos!

    Matthew

i saw this on Missing Lynx and I hate posting on there!

I'm in the middle of the same vehicle right now - I too had planned an OOTB build but my own obsessiveness got the better of me (having reference material handy can be disasterous!)

This looks like a great and clean build - the brass looks like it just ups some of those heavier details.

There appears to be a faint texture on this? Can I ask what you did?

    paint soon? Any figures?

inspired by this (last worked on mine before Christmas) - cerainly the best built version I've seen of this so far

If you mean the plastic its some overspray from a brown undercoat spray I used to check for my sanding...if you mean the PE I have the habit of heating it on a lighter flame till it changes colour to make it easier to bend to shape...

ANy in progress pics of your build mate?

was refering to the brown colour......cheers

BTW, I've got the VLS/Trakz replacement tyres - no hub issues as was mentioned in the ML post. Ugly casting lugs but generally good tread and detail.

I have no WIP pics but thares nothing stopping me taking some pics....maybe I should join the group build!

The brass stuff does look sweet......I confess to using a spare jerrycan holder from another set.

    Are the tools themselves resin?

do you always "clean" the eduard brass before use? Is there a reason for this?

    HobbyBoss M706 Empty Eduard PE

Post  Dottore Thu Mar 03, 2011 8:16 pm

Rob I used very little of the Eduard PE set...infact only the air intake cover, the jerry can holder and the tool rack all of which I could have probably done without as you have done. Jerry can holder and tool rack are all available as a generic Aber set of US equipment...
Most of the remaining Eduard set had details for interior and vision ports inside and out which frankly I found futile. Also the armoured vision slots were provided but I thought they were a bit underscaled and not too realistic...

I always anneal or heat the PE on a lighter flame as it makes the PE much easier to bend...
The resin tools are US pioneer tools from Formations...gorgeous items really!

another set of tyres......the hubs look good, with that cut out that you see - I assume they are slightly different front and back but the differences are barely visible

HobbyBoss M706 Empty Base paint and some shading....

Post  Dottore Wed May 30, 2012 12:18 pm

Finally had some time to start painting this one...I am opting for a more traditional 'panelling' technique where each panel is lightened at the centre to create a shadow and sun bleached effect...

All comments welcome and as always excuse the abysmal photography...
