Re: Anyone got Mirages?
Ray you have your right to express your view and concern for Malta, but let's face it if we recall history when the bomb plot and the coup against Hitler was made in vain they created a far super mad man and dragged the war for another year ... hope history will not repeat again so lets keep concentrating on modelling as this is not a political forum and enjoy the Mirages for the time being especially associating the hisorical news value behind them, so Marco are you sure about the FS colours this time you are lucky as fotos are in colour

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
take into consideration this - history repeats itself, take what happened to yugoslavia as an example and there is a big chance that libya might follow suit. If civil war erupts there will inevitably be displacement of people, and we are the closest EU state - so you can imagine the repercussions on us directly.

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
One way or another it's gonna happen and the burden gonna be on us and Italy ... unfortunetly if civil war starts no control on borders, if Gaddafi remains, many [and surely there are a lot] of anti-regime gonna flee as refugees ... unfortunetly we gonna await the worst from this event!
But let's not get this topic political ...

I wont go as far....
as say that they should have dived into the regime buildings like Kamikadzes...BUT maybe a more heroic deed would have been engaging the other Mirages that were firing on civilians...

In one of the pictures it looks a bit of a dark chocolate brown, but that is under artificial light, so can be misleading. The one taken on natural light looks more greyish than brown, although to say the truth it does give an impression of having a brownish tinge (could also be because of the other 2 camo colors) but I would stick with Marco's suggestion unless proofed otherwise.

Seems these are the spoils from a pitch battle with the African mercenaries in Tobruk military airport.
Street fighting and someone complaining with insurance that tanks passed over his car!

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
Get a woman.. she'll tell you the exact shade, which could be something like "mochamouse".
Seriously though I agree that the light does have an effect and it looks both grey and brownish.
have a look at this pic and compare the top of the wing with the fuselage
To me the colour on the wing looks greyer than that on the fuselage.
While here though it looks grey all round:
I would go with grey

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
Depends on the camera, the image compression method, the settings on your monitor, your monitor's brand and don't even get me started on printers (if you want to print the photo)... you'll get as many different shades as there are pissed off libyans.
As Ivan said, nothing beats seeing the thing up close and personal.

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
I went to see them yesterday, but it was dark and rainy so...
See im not the only one who sees a hint of brown in the gray
As i stated earlier.. yes, the colour does change according to light! Dont forget these photos are almost always re touched and contrasts increased.

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
You see what I meant by KAMIKAZE
They would have been HEROES by now, both in Libya by saving her, and here by saving you all this trouble

Re: Anyone got Mirages?
Guys, I'm sure you're all following what's happening at our airport. History in the making. It would be great if we could capture all this in a massive diorama (or a series of small ones), Mirages, chinhooks, Military transports, ships... the variety of subjects is staggering!!
