USS WASP LHD 1

sooooooo happy guys....will start Daniel on scale modelling before he starts to walk .....hand is much better and started to do some more work on the Wasp...hopefully will see u next Wednesday....

Have just completed the interior of the vessel which include the hangar deck and the flooding deck which comes in two individual sections. A roof for the hangar deck had to be scratchbuilt...all decks were detailed using photoetch and the usual stuff...Garage doors in hangar were opened out which will emit red lighting denoting an action stations situ. these will accomodate hangar deck equipment.The wiring is very complex with three different colours, red, green and clear lighting...Hope I get it right when all three parts are put into place...My apologies for the quality of the pics...can't seem to get the lighting right !

This was totally scratchbuilt using 20 thou plastic sheeting...soldering lead wire and the good old telephone wire provided by Joseph

this was detailed further as detail offered by the kit wasn't that good...Garage doors were opened up as well..so was the entrance to the flooding well deck.

This is the upper part of the flooding deck which will lead to the actual flooding well..This will also be lighted up in green. Pity that one cannot see that well because it is well sitauted in the heart of the ship

This is the flooding well deck which will be added on to the vehicle hangar deck section...this was also further detailed.

This is a pik of the two components together. once in place ...will set to work to get the wiring set up. Next on the bench is the ship's hull . First things first is to saw off the lower part of the hull and detail it accordingly....don't think will be finished in time for the expo

Just one thing - you forgot to include the praying room for the buddists.

The island of the vessel is finally complete....including lights, wiring, rigging...the lot Phew !...some pics...finally mastering my toy...the camera..lol

Next to go on the work bench, is the hull...inititial works and airbrushing
already done , will have to shade and apply washes so further detail can be added...walkways...sponsons and so on....still a long way to go but getting there

Thanks Paul.....so much work to do yet...have to start work on the hull now....I honestly havent decided habib.....want to start the Warspite...a ship I have wanted to build for such a long time...or the diorama with the SS Ohio...which will definetely take a long time as both ships have to be scratchbuilt...issa nara...see you tonite habib....
