72nd Tempests & Typhoon
Basic painting finished. Tempest V and Typhoon camo masked with BluTac but Tempest 2 is free hand. The Typhoon and Tempest V are from Academy, while the radial engined Tempest 2 is from special hobby. Next some gloss and decals...

Re: 72nd Tempests & Typhoon
Care on using BlueTac. It's an oily compound that might leak and ruin your paintwork.
Better to use Whitetac which is similar in form and consistency yet does not contain oil and won't leak.

Alex

Also white tac is stickier and softer than bluetac, making it easier to stick on.

Re: 72nd Tempests & Typhoon
Update: All decals ready, varnished and weathered. I think that I overdid the weathering and it's too heavy, but you can't wash the models to their glorious finish! I also noticed a couple of decals that silvered on both the Academy models. The SH decals were excellent. Silvering is on some stenciling, which I might remove with tape and varnish without them, as it looks better and they are very small decals as well so they won't be noticable that they are missing!

Re: 72nd Tempests & Typhoon
Very nicely done models. Weathering looks ok, though the gun staining might be a bit overdone. Again, weathering it is a matter of opinion. None the less they look great, keep posting!

Re: 72nd Tempests & Typhoon
Just experimenting with the photography. Yesterday's photos were at ISO400 and a pure white background, so here are better ones I took today using ISO100 and a "proper" background. They are all shot using flash in a photo umbrella reflector/diffuser if anyone is interested! Hope to get them ready by next wednesday.
