Ray, he's right there, i should be trying to wind this project up not adding more detail. It is as addictive as a drug. But the thing looks cool now, all naked with all the structure and pipework showing. Pretty satisfied with the result. The rest should be plain sailing. thanks everyone for all your favourable comments.

If you're planning to do some captions for these birds I would seriously consider including a couple of these work-in-progress pics so people can better appreciate the effort involved in this piece of art.

I have photos of every stage of the work so i can do that easily .....if i finish in time!! Started on the second bird but this is a straightforward build, finding it strange to not even detail the cockpit. Strange but fun! To all of you guys who saw the pics and commented, thanks for looking. Any criticism is more than welcome, i am working like crazy on these planes but i do need you lot to look in and pass your own judgement. Thanks again.

Update:

The fuselage of both komets is now complete. The last details to go in were the scratchbuilt early oval type air intakes at the rear of the fuselage and the nose cone.

The oval inatake was hot formed from plastic sheet over a male mold carved from scrap resin block.

Komet 2. Note that the fuselage for komet 2 had to be widened on the underside since it was too narrow. A strip of 1.7mm plastic was inserted in between the two halves. The tailwheel was also scratched as that for the first plane. Only the wheel itself was used from the kit part.





You can see the rocket engine's tailpipe made from aluminium pipe, the rear fuel dump pipe just underneath it and all the fuel dump pipes on the underside.







The last thing to be glued in place is the nose cone. Detail added here consists of a tiny air intake and a jacking point in the form of a round recess.

Yes Ray sorry that you were not there, Marco you too, i think you would have liked to see them. I will get them again when they are complete with the wings installed in place. Should start working on the wings this weekend.
