Re: F-104G Cockpit, 1:12 Italeri
Ok, ive started 'work' on the helmet.
The confsing part is it is called 'Flying Helmet HUPG 12A'. Ive tried researching this flying helmet and found nothing.
Even its colour and markings... I dont know if its fictional or not
Now is 'HUPG 12A' the type of helmet or squadron?
The funny thing is my F16 cockpits helmet is ALSO HUPG 12A
This is the closest ive found (through visual examination)

Re: F-104G Cockpit, 1:12 Italeri
Upon finishing the F84... THE COCKPIT HAS BEEN RESURRECTED FROM ITS...BOX!
I want to finish this damn thing, its been too long away in its box, pity because almost all the parts are ready! Just these bloody seatbelts are holding me back
Hours are being spent studying the seatbelts & comparing them to photos & illustrations. Still there are some things i cant find a solution too

Re: F-104G Cockpit, 1:12 Italeri
Its hard to explain..i hope you understand..
I am trying to see how to replicate the seatbelts on the real plane with the seatbelts i was given in the kit. the kits seatbelts look good, are pretty basic but are all coloured brown/red. the kit doesnt include every seat belt on the real thing. Im trying to see how im gonna split them up and colour them accordingly. as you might know the seatbelts in real life are coloured ochre, green, blue, drab. only problem is the real seat has SO MANY seatbelts its like looking at spagetti. and hard to find which belts i see in the pics are actually included and which are not. i have a lot of research and each coloured photo/illustration tells a different story.
also, im a having a hard time with a buckle that fits over the pilots stomach, which is attatched to 4 seatbelts, which in the images i have, is not visible, so i cant really decided on its colour and if its even correct in the kit.
this buckel is attatched to a bigger single seatbelt which is attatched to the seat backing, which again, i cant see in the pics.
Yesterday i grabbed a pencil & started planning how im gonna colour some belts and i also planned some scratchbuilt seatbelts

Re: F-104G Cockpit, 1:12 Italeri
UPDATE TIME
Remember the F104 i started building in 2009?? (almost 3 years ago)
Well, over the past few months i have been, slowly, working on it (on and off- most of the time just a box queen)
Twiddled some wire round the buckles to hold onto during airbrushing
After months of deliberation and frustration, this is how i decided to paint the seat belts (dark green, ochre+white, olive drab, blue mix)
Such a beauty
Note the 'glass effect' on the dials. this was done by blobs of Klear.
Cockpit lamp wire was made from copper wire twiddled round a toothpick
Ejection handles free hand
