as long as you have your fathers permission you can post anytime you like in my book. you are most likely to be the near future generation of our club
now as for the question regarding the pak and stuart you can combine them in this way the stuart is passing by an abandoned pak40. do not do it the other way round that is the pak40 near a destroyed stuart as it is obvious that if the tank got that close to the pak it would be the pak that got off worst. the pak 40 only advantage on a tank was that it could hit it and destroy it at long ranges before it could be seen

If I'm right you can make a diorama in north Africa with the M3 passing a knocked out 75mm pak40.
As a battle it can be Gazala

Brilliant idea re junior section on the forum William Cool (it's in the blood I know Idea )

Re club meetings Twisted Evil you can always attend up till 8pm (like we instigate any other interested juniors to do) and then, your Dad (as we instigate the other parents to do) will take you home and stay there with you What a Face

Jep Willy give it a try, the idea of an abondoned Pak is much more ideal ... or else why not do seperate vignettes ... will keep your father more 'labour intensive' after the stipulated junior clubmember time zone!

William you'll be having my assistance on this ... start with the Pak as it is a very straight foward gun, if not mistaken we have one in our War MNuseum which has recently re-opened. It is in a desert scheme, but if going European theatre then German Dark Yellow is a must post 43.

Best ask Dottore, as he is an expert in the USA army, but if you have the Tamiya model I recall that it needs changes for Tunisia and better go to European Theatre. So Italy, Normandy, Belgium and Germany would be more ideal IMO ... x'tahseb?

A question for you AFV fanatics Empty Versions....

Post  Dottore Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:19 am

The Academy M3A1 (NOT the HONEY) can be used as a US tank..in North africa mostly....was terribly obsolete and was not sent to Europe. Typically the kasserine battle pass saw them in action. Not sure if it met opposition from the PAK though....

Now the Academy honey version was brityish but also used without sand skirts and stowage boxes on the rear by the americans in Philippines. If you plan to build the british Honey again go for North Africa but beware thre Academy interior is correct for the M3A1 NOT the british honey. So if u build the honey keep all the hatches closed. If you need references I have a book called modelling the staurt by S. Zaloga which is brilliant....

    Hope this helps

So what you are saying is that it would be better to do the European version of the tank.

the model is a Tamiya and the interior is not given.

I think it is a Mk.2 because of the welded turret, a machine gun on each sponson, one on a mount in the front and an anti-aircraft machine gun on the turret.

I think I will go for the North Africa Tunisia version. What do you think Question Very Happy

Post  Dottore Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:22 am

Thought it was the newer Academy version....

Those were diesel engine variants...used by british and US in North Africa. They were used in the pacific by the US and Lend lease forces (inc Russians) BUT NOT IN EUROPE.

Not a bad kit though made in the 70s.
If the PAK was used in North Africa you are home and dry...if not hard to put them in the same scene i think....

Normally all Jerry stuff in North Africa were panzer grey and coated with Desert Yellow [similar to Drak Yellow]. Normally no insignia or DAK palms as many like to show them, what might Paks have are white strips near the muzzle, around the barrel that indicated kill marks. Paks are sleek and in Africa many were dug in, almost till the muzzle and camoflaged with shrubs, stones, netting etc ... Tunisia was same situation only that the ambience had much more greenery and terrain more stony then the desert. Paks were crewed by Africa Korps and also by Falchimjagers in Tunisia. Check the site Marco indicated about DAK stuff ... will await Noel for further info!

Happy modelling, but how nicer AFVs are then planes, hux William!
