    Reunited - Final chapter

Post  iCocker on Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:54 pm

Finally I can say the chapter is closed, this might have been one of the most intensive project I have done till date, though at first look it is a very minimalist set up ... the story behind and what is the dove looking upon is more a message, the historical one - the KVI which is known as the child of Leningrad, entering back the city and the reunion of a family, not a common thing after the 4 year war as many died of starvation and cold. Figures are all heavily converted, minus pepping Ivan and the mother.
Paintwork I tried to work as much as possible on a montone scheme, utilising the modulation effect and givening impact only on the girl - that is why a red coat [burrowed from a scene in Schindler's list].

On a historical note Leningrad was beseiged for 4 years, it was common that in 44 'old' pattern uniform and first batch tanks were still being utilisied as supplies had yet not reached the city. Those with a sharp eye might notice a German sign which never was put in use by them, as the name of 'Lenin - grad' offended their regime the sign for the city was already changed to Petersburg - this was not to happen before the 90s when communism fell.

Sorry not the best fotos around as well as the worst headache on this dio was to work everything as a jigsaw, so that I can dismantle for transport. Big thanks to Sammy for doing the woodwork [base] for me ... thanks laddie and Steve for the flowers ... this sounds gayish hux!

    Ivan

I saw this at home Ivan, it looks awesome, simply brilliant. Where did you find those great figures? Also the weathering on the tank looks really great.

Thank you guys for the nice comments, what to expect up there is unpredictable, for me getting a thumbs up from the masters of dioramas we are to meet up there would be much better then the piece of thin ... but at least I hope that I managed to give away the story before any read the caption, something I was severly penalised the last time I entered in AFV Vignette Class, imma insomma dejjem titghallem hux!

As Ray promtly anticipated the Father and child are heavily converted, the child scratch, only taking a mould of an Andrea child [thanks Noel for the idea] and resculpting everything together. The other figures started of from a mix of Miniart soldiers but were heavily converted and received new heads and detail added from Hornet. The OFB figures were only the Mother and teh pepping captain [by MIG].

Will miss the farewell this evening and I am sorry this vignette hopefully shall make it to the club when we return, unfortunetly it was a great headache trying to solve how to transport and repack ... would not like to leave this issue for the last minute bhas-soltu!!!!!

This is truly a master piece in my eyes, alot of what is written here i can't understand,
    what language is it? Greek?

Anyway it sounds like you guys are getting ready for a show?
We have our yearly show this Saturday the 19th at the museum. I don't enter
models anymore at the shows, i go for the eye candy and good deals on kits.

icocker your dio is subperb and i wish you the best of luck, your a true
artisit at painting, those figs are awesome. Are you using oils on them?

    Thank you guys again ...

@ Luftiger - we are preparing for the one of the top annual international show in UK - Eurmilitaire.
Thanks for your comments, and hope you also enjoy your show as well. Painting is multimedia, skintones oils over acrylics, textile mainly acrylics ... sorry for our grumbling, but is Maltese, very strange to understand sorry!

Yes it would be my Honor Ivan.

Thats an invitation for everybody here. Whoever wants to make an article of his build (planes, figures, afv, dios) he can send me a PM.

is a pity not to host such strong builds on HELMO webpage. So if you please Ivan inform all of your members that they are WELCOME. We have hosted Brian's, Carabott, and Cyril Worley's builds already. But as far as i can see there amazing works on many builds here.

    Thank U.
    Alex
