Re: FW190 A8/R8 - 1/48
So,
As Marco suggested, the red stripes on the eagle wings look out of place for this aircraft as they are usually white or yellow:
After foraging around for some info I came across a forum where someone was asking the same question:http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/aircraft-requests/some-sturmbock-questions-10689.html
Here's what someone replied:
"# 4 Schwarze 8 had the red trim over the Adlerflugel, the yellow stripe on the spinner prop. highly unusual and mixed up really, and no I do know the reason as I wish I did.....as I said in the first posting the colours were then modified and then used for all the a/c. this black 8 later had white stripe on the spinner and a white stripe on the Adlerflugel, also had the Scheuklappen added to the canopy."
So it seems that it did get white stripes later on after all (as well as the canopy armor it seems).
I just hope that this aircraft was in fact an R8 and not an R2 version because that's what I'm building

you also forgot ray
red black MAN UTD
white black newcastle
both these clubs existed long before any italian club, you have to remember that most if not all italian team shirts are "borrowed" from english clubs including milan and juve shirts

Wayne I have already answered you about this , in an early tread ...
from the photo if the spinner is yellow and black , the eagle motif outline looks dark that may be red as the drawings...

Re: FW190 A8/R8 - 1/48
Another thing Wayne , from the photo the wings outer armament are the 30mm cannons , so thats make it the R2 version, but this aircraft was a field mod...and have the sides armour so that makes it the R8 version ....

Re: FW190 A8/R8 - 1/48
I only said I preferred the red band... because it breaks the colours and gives it a bit of a vivid look......
It was RAY who assumed I was talking football!!
(PS at least it does not have blue/black....it would have been a LOSER!! -- fejn hu Oliver??)

Re: FW190 A8/R8 - 1/48
I was rummaging through some old aviation mags I had stashed and found these interesting Fw190 schemes, (pity none is an A8-R8)
The Fw190 in black looks really menacing... maybe I'll build one in 1/32 someday

What about the A5 U-8 used in sneak attacks? What colour was that? Even the markings where painted over.

Re: FW190 A8/R8 - 1/48
Great pic marco.
What was the status of the indicator? I assume it was only 'up' when the landing gear was down and was recessed during flight to reduce drag.
Also, about the night intruder version, where they still standard colours or were they painted over in black/gray? I've never seen a model of one before and I think an 'intruder' would make a very interesting and unusual subject don't you think?
