The Graf Zeppelin and her Aircraft
Prosit Marco,
Well done, a nice piece of good research. Keep it up brother, the project is on it's way.
With regards to the diorama, yes, I would tend to agree on that if the scale is 1:350. but in 1:72 scale, it is an absolute must that the model should be constructed with a full hull.
Yesterday I down loaded a copy of the original fire fighting water sprinker system, installed on board the Graf Zeppelin. Of course it's too large to post it on the forum. But at the least chance I will print out a copy.
One thing to note. The two rectangular hollow sections forming part of the front of the flight deck, were in fact the channels in which the steam operated catapults were designes to operate. For everybody's information, the first steam operated catapults sere designed by the Germans in 1936.
Keep it up brother.

The Graf Zeppelin and her Aircraft
Good Job Wayne,
I have downloaded some of these photos from the bunderarchiv, and have them saved in my file, but there are some pics that I don't have.
One thing to note, is the bulge at the side of the ship. In actual fact the buldges were added after the ship was launched, as these were never part of the original design. these were added, as some engineers came to the conclusion that in rough seas, the ship would have performed as a better platform for the aircraft. Not to mention that these bulges offered more storage capacities for fuel and water, while also serving as balancing tanks..
Keep it up Wayne.
