Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Continued to add some detail to this bird's cockpit. I followed Brian's advice and used thinner wire this time.
Here's one of the reference photos I used
From the photos I noticed that the kit's left-console (throttle and stuff) was too far back so I scratch built an 'extension' for it using some foil and this
The console in place:
I decided to re-create the wiring loom that sits just below the pit's edge using some fine strips of copper wire and some foil for the clips
Here's the end result (some of the bits are dry-fitted)
Will tackle the right side of the pit next.
Thanks for watching and constructive comments are most welcome

Wayne you are doing an excellent work! I agree with Marco regarding the headrest as in the kit it is solid piece of plastic.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Was thinking of doing the head-rest using milliput or green stuff.
But not before I finish detailing the other side of the pit. I will then focus on the seat.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Found a couple of minutes today and started detail work on the starboard side of the cockpit.
Here's what I'm trying to replicate:
Here's what the kit gives you:
Here's what I've done so far.
I'm not very happy with how the oxygen regulator (I think) turned out but I think it will look better painted. I left the plastic jacket on the blue wire on purpose as I think it will give a more realistic feel. I will be spraying acrylics so I'm not expecting any nasty reactions with the plastic.
Thanks for watching.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Here are some more progress pics.
First the oxygen valve handle, shaped from a piece of sprue:
Some views of the rest of the detail work showing the valve in place
I'm aware that the valve itself might be a tad overscale, but I'm not too bothered about it.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Way to go Wayne, that is some great scratchbuilding, it is looking really good! Keep this up, when painted, it is going to look really nice. Don't forget to occasionally put the fuselage halves together and dry fit the seat, just to make sure that everything is where it should be and nothing is too big to not allow the installation of the other remaining parts of the cockpit. Better than having to remove parts afterwards as had happened to me when i built the corsair.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Ordered Airwaves Seat, bulkhead and weighted wheels from Hannants. Goodies have been dispached today!!
Once they get here I will be able to finish work on the pit and focus on the wheel wells.
Still not sure about the engine. I'm torn between showing detail and not spoiling the lines of the aircraft.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Open up the engine, it is a blast to detail and you can play about with the different metallic sheens like i did with the jumo on my Me262. Go for it. You can always detail the engine and place it near the aircraft as if it is waiting to be changed. It can be placed on a pallet. The kit engine would not need to be seen then.
