Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
I used a mix of Burnt Umber and Black Oils everywhere except for the aluminium surfaces where I used a bluish-gray wash.skyhigh wrote:Very good work , Wayne ......... what did you use for the wash...........

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Took the day off today to start finishing off the model. One of the tasks I planned for today was to paint and fit the gun sight only to find out that the kit part was nowhere to be found . Being a transparent part didn't make looking for it easier so after 15mins of futile searching I decided to scratch build the thing,
Scratch building was not part of the plan so late in the project but here's the result. The bottom lens is made from Kristal Klear which has not set yet so it shows up as a white dot. Once it turns clear it should look a lot better.

Nicely done Wayne, don;t get lost on the minute stuff and get it done. The gunsight you made is good enough, then if you have time in the end go back to it and maybe add some more detail.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
By the way Wayne, don;t forget to flatten those tyres a bit, makes a hell of a difference to a model, remember most of the weight of the plane is on the rear tyres, they have to be weighted down, the nosewheel not so much.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Brian, the wheels are resin items from airwaves and they are already weighted. the thing is that since the wheels are not perpendicular to the ground, most of the 'weighting' shows on the inside of the wheel. Granted though that they might not be flattened enough.

Re: He 162 Salamander 1/32
Assembled the seatbelts and test fitted them to seat. Thank God I did not glue the ejection seat!
Now its just a question of getting them to sit correctly

They are beautiful but too new, dirty them a bit. Pastels or any other means will do.
