Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Prosit Marco and thank you now i can finish the wheel wells maybe today. I did not have any decent details for the rest of the well. I do not know why you made such a fuss of the new kit wheel well area. They just left it exactly as the 109G4 trop which i was using. It is totally inaccurate, the framing is of the G and they left the bulge so in actual fact they did not do a single thing to correct this wheel well but took the easy way out. Now it is up to us to get it right. I also corrected the aluminium framing i did and it looks much better now. I will post some pics when the wheel well is complete.

Thanks Wayne apparently my work is not living up to Marco's expectiations and he is right it is a bit crude but making something out of nothing is not easy. I ended up ordering Radu's set this afternoon. Could not resist it!

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Radu's stuff is something else... the detail is brilliant. However I tend to appreciate more the scratch built stuff. Might not be as perfect-looking but it's a challenge to make and still looks good when done well. You get that satisfaction and say "Hey.. I did that!". At least that's how I see it at the moment but I'm still green!
Having said that you do realise you're working on Skyhigh's baby so it's never gonna be good enough unless it's 1:1, fires up and flies

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
My advice, don't build a 109 because nothing is good enough or if you do, just speak up when it is done and don;t ask anything. The sooner i start my next project the better, this should have been an easy build and it is killing me. Besides, i still want to break a record and finish two models in one year.

I have one of Marseille's F-4's in the stash, so i'll be going through it sometime or other
But there are a couple of Stukas in the way so it won't be that soon.

Sorry Brian , what have I've done..... ... I did not want to upset you... from now on I'm going to close one eye and stay silent...bcauchi wrote:Thanks Wayne apparently my work is not living up to Marco's expectiations and he is right it is a bit crude but making something out of nothing is not easy. Wayne your right about , made your own stuff .... ..I agree with you.. but modeler like Brian time is consuming.....
and mind you , because I could not ressist it.. .. even Radu left some detail out.. .. so it's not 100% finished ..Sorry brian , you didn't tell me that your were going to order the set..
the sill frame is missing from all the sets...

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Hi Brian
As far as I see your wheel well is the ciclular one since the majority of the f-4s were produced with that shape.
Your build is under siege!!!! Keep fighting!!!!
We do want to see an exceptional 109F at the end!!!

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Marco, do not close your eyes or even blink. I am over the wheel well now and will make it as accurate as possible when i receive the set from Radu. I always put in the sill myself but if you see the pics you posted for the F with the circular well, the ones from the 109 lair, the sill does not go all the way around the circular part. But don;t worry i will put them in. I ordered the set because i could not do all that work with the aluminium again. It took too long to make and with all the adjustments it became brittle and started falling to bits. Quicker this way. Keep up the good work and tell me where i go wrong. If i don;t want your comments i won;t post pics. We are lucky to have your expertise so fire away. I can take it. Trouble is that once you tell me that something is wrong, i will never leave it as it is because i cannot live with an inaccurate detail if i know about it. thanks for the info.
BUT NOW WE HAVE TO SEE YOU BUILD A 109! YOU CANNOT KEEP RUNNING AWAY FROM IT FOR EVER.

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Brian keep it in mind , that nearly all restored 109 in museums have some of the sills bend ,damaged or flated to the side , and left as it is ..watch good all photos...bcauchi wrote:Marco, do not close your eyes or even blink. But Brian keep in mind .. that 109's wells are square at the end from E's to K's ..but again for the F-4's some how they add a circular peace... and may be coverd the square sills part , so that's why there is no sill visible... Brian it makes sense, because the sills ,were for the doors ...

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
That's how it is in the pic, the sills going under the circular part. I think it is correct and not due to bending or any other problem. That is the way i will do them.
