Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Some progress pics for the work being done on the canopy. It is nearly done. I have put in some extra detail on the rear decking behind the pilot's seat. There is a leather strap to open the stowage compartment, there is also a round frame which went all the way under the flat outer frame of this section of the canopy and also the ejector pistons which hardly anyone puts in.

Thanks Ray there's a long way to go yet. I hope that Marco comes up with the colour i need to use. I dont; want to start and then have to repaint it. That would be the last straw!

Brian the work and detail is incridible, but again ..you need to stick the leather strap on top , only the buckle holder was on top of the stowage door..

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
You are right, i thought that it was a strap which one pulled to open the door. Now just give me an answer for the colour please! Why don;t you build one with me, it would have been ready by now!

Mela ghamilli pjacir, paint a piece of plastic with your colour and compare to an FS number then tell me the number. that would be just fine, then leave the rest to me.

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Brian,
I have a copy of Kookaburra RLM colour chips and also FS colour chips. The closest I found to Kookaburra's RLM 79 are FS 20227 and FS 30227.
As Skyhigh said, FS 33434 is closer to Kookaburra's RLM 79 (Temp), the Italian yellow-sand.
I will bring the chips along with me on Wednesday if you want to have a look.

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Brian I don't see it a big problem , because there is some manuf.. that do the colours very close , if you follow the samples ..skyhigh wrote:Brian these are very close to comp-color...

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
The colours i found closest to the chips you have shown are FS 30215 and FS 30219. Wayne, FS30277 is too greyish with no hint of yellow whatsoever and doesnt look good at all. I also found out that the testors italian sand which I bought falls somewhere between them but is closer to FS 30215. I have now decided to use that because with the shading and fading, there will be the right shade somewhere. This is a closed topic and i will use that whatever the result. After all, even these chips on the net change colour according to the monitor you see them with. I use a CRT (old type) monitor and the colour looks different if i use my laptop. I challenge anyone to bring a piece of pristine 109F still in its original paint to tell me that the colour is wrong.

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Ok Brian may be your right about the net colors ...30219 no ...it's to brownish ..30215 as seen on the net it gives some clue ...but I prefer to check with the Fs colour chip at the club , if I was youbcauchi wrote:The colours i found closest to the chips you have shown are FS 30215 and FS 30219. Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
I have the colour chips at home because I had bought a set. That is how i am comparing the colours. I have compared the colour square which you told me looks like compucolur with the chips and that is how I arrived at FS30215 and FS 30219. Actually, it is closer to FS30219 because FS 30215 is slightly lighter and more yellowish but as i already told you, it is impossible to compare colours on a monitor so i will go with the colour i have. It is somewhere in between. When i darken a lighten it, the true colour will be somewhere there and everything is merged in the shades.

Re: Bf109 F4 Trop.
Brian I'm encloseing these pic's for better detail , there is a washer pipe infront ... but this is a JG54 plane operated in the russian front , to remove frost from the windshield, so may be not N.africa needed , can't find one...
Another note... could be possible , for me it's not that easy to produce , that handle or ventilation call it what you want ..on top of the canopy sliding window....
in early aircraft , it was on top of windshield..
