The Borodino was the lead ship of her class of pre dreadnought battleships. Named after the Battle at Borodino in 1812, the ship was completed after the start of the Russian/Japanese war in 1904. Borodino was assigned to the second Pacific squadron in the far east after it's completion to break the Japanese blockade at Port Arthur. The ship was sunk in the battle of Tsushima on the 27th May 1905, due to several explosions . sadly there was only one survivor out of a total of
885 officers and enlisted man.

Seems like you've taken a liking to these Russian ships. This is really nice. Let's see your work again.

This another ZVESDA kit which obviously needs a lot of reworking and scratchbuilding like the VARYAG.....and yes like Brian said I' nm really getting hooked on these beautiful Russian vessels...but mostly I 'm having a serious whim now on building early 1900s ships...Konig...HMS Dreadnought...the Japanese Mikasa etc etc...so a new trend for me

Works have started .....the lower hull was sawn off and re enforced.... started detailing the hull itself. Notice the furled anti torpedo nets which in this model will not be deployed. They were fashioned out of common boot laces. Afraid the pics don't show the texture but once painted they will look very different . Have started works on the turrets as well.

If I had to guess.....he might follow a ship's plan or something like thatNoel Petroni wrote:Nice clean cut! How do you do it!

If after all, it is not provided with the instruction sheet

Prosit Louis,
Good start.
How are you planning to finish the Borodino, peace time or war time colours?

Yes I follow the ship's plans ...draw a demarcation line around the ship and I also have to make an allowance for the seascape touching the ship's hull which will be slightly higher

Exquisite work as usual Lou, that is an incredible amount of detail you are putting in especially considering such a small scale. Looking forward to more.
