Re: Tiger Moth @ Aviation Museum
The Gladiator should definitely be there but it will never happen. I wrote a letter in the times about a year ago and started a string of letters but it will never happen. HM are going to hold on to it with both hands. A pity they cannot appreciate that its place should be there with the rest of these historical beauties.

Re: Tiger Moth @ Aviation Museum
The Gladiator is wasted at HM, it doesn't even have its wings on it, its rightful place is at the aviation museum

Re: Tiger Moth @ Aviation Museum
The Tiger Moth is supposed to be restored to flying condition. I confirmed this with Ray Polidano a few weeks ago.

Re: Tiger Moth @ Aviation Museum
Olly and me, had the pleasure to see the first coats on the fuselage being done ... and now seeing it ready it is awesome!
Discussing with Ray Polidano this aircraft is gonna fly, the first vintage biplane to take off in the Maltese sky. Probably as usual redtape and permits they are to be using part of the road to land, would be a grand addition to the MAM, it would change from static to a living history museum and a new addition to have people coming over. Might they act some marketing strategy and do plaesure flights at a charge would be some further income to the Museum, and surely would be worth paying to experience such a flight ... ask our friend Hardy about this!
This year the new additional BIG hangar would start in the grounds were the Dakota is lying ... this would house the postwar and jet age period. Works should start by next March as tenders has alreday been issued and hopefully chosen ... might also be our future expo area and it's gonna be massive!
Hope that by April the remaining wing of the Hurricane shall be also ready and hopefully get the back area cleared a bit ... a little more space so that we can display better our area especially plus the 3 magestic birds ...
The story about the Gladiator is a sad one ... till date we shall remain with a badly refurbished fuselage in Valletta and a pair of skeleton wings Ta Qali. Probably will remain talekwale ... Personally I have two views on this issue, the best is to be refurbushed to its splendour with wings and be housed in the hangar and the other at least bring it back to the skeletal form as it was donated after the Siege by the Brits and remain testimony of that ceremony.
