Hello from Barrow in Furness, England. Although I have been looking in here for some time I only recently decided to register. Malta has a special meaning for me as my Nanna came from Paola so I am part Maltese. I still have family in Malta.
I have been building kits for over forty years having started with small Airfix kits. That was about all my limited pocket money could buy at the time. I am one of those people who tends to build things that appeal to me rather than restrict myself to one type. Having said that, living in a town that has a long history of building ships I do have a fondness for kits of ships built here. Ships like the Mikasa, Kongo and one that has a link to Malta, during World War Two, the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious.
The first time I got to visit Malta was back in 1979. Back then I stayed with a gentleman who was a friend of my Nanna. During WW2, he served aboard HMS Kelly. Sadly he died a few years ago at the grand old age of 95.
Another of my hobbies is photography. Whenever I visit model shows I take loads of pictures. At Telford, this year, I took over 900 and, so far, I have uploaded 400 to my SmugMug album.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on a bit and goodbye for now.
