Ha tippruvuwwa l-irbuuba
That is saying it in Zurrieq lingo
Joking apart, get a piece of white metal (if you don't have, I can furnish you with surplus bases which I'll never use) & drilling that, should do the trick & white metal dust as well

Re: Two Me 163 komets
UPDATE! Here is the paint mixing table and also the paint storage rack. Thinners at the bottom and paint on the upper shelves. The table, tools and vice are the only things which are not scratchbuilt. hope you like it.
And here are some scenes of the whole project so far. There is not muc left to add now.

I'm setting up my work station in another room and hoping to start seriously again!
Great work and it is incredible the way you paid attention to every little detail. It's a pleasure to watch the pics!

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Thanks a lot everyone for your comments. I hope to soon have it done and get it over to the club once i sort out the problem of fixing everything to the base. Items left for me to do:
A welding set. What is a workshop without one?
I have the last figure who is holding a bicycle. he has just come from the store with some part in his hands. I am dying to get to this bicycle. it is a beautiful kit with lots of photoetched fiddly parts.
A huge dustbin with rubbish in it.
that is basically what's left for me to do except for some more finishing touches such as a few posters up on the wall and some more dirt and stuff.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Sibt kif taghmilha Ray, you are going to like those long strings of coiled metal. Remember them when the tool is correctly sharpened and the feed is just right, the metal being removed does not break up but forms long spirals. I found a way of making those. they are going to look cool all over the place.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Be patient my friends, it will hopefully soon be done then i will get it over to the club. I am working hard to have it finished, it was tiring but lots of fun and very satisfying and a welcome break from detailing planes. tried a bit of everything and tried to learn from everyone. Hope that the finished product will be up to standard!

Re: Two Me 163 komets
One curiosity Brian, whay did they mask out the insignia? Was it not the norm they make an overall coat and re-paint them, in AFVs I know they used to have stencils or handpainted but nice to know how they dealt with from the luftwaffe side ...

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Ivan it is only my assumption but all i know for sure is that Wolfgang Spate was pretty pissed off when they sprayed his plane red because of the extra weight of the paint. in fact he records in his book that he asked his fitter what weight of paint was used to paint it red and when he answered he told him that the extra weight meant a significant addition in the plane's take off run. That was critical so I assumed that they would apply paint at an absolute minimum. I don't have details of how the Luftwaffe painted their aircraft, just a few photos, two during production and two making amendments in the field, minor works. So that is just something i decided. I thought it would be interesting and in line with the facts i have in hand.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Red paint might also had lead in the mix aswell apart probably giving it more then one coat to make a rich red colour... interesting historical notes Brian
