King Tiger Ausf B Late Early to Mid Production Feb to April 1944

Hi, I am adding some photos of my last model that I took to Euromilitaire 2009.

This is how it came in the box.

Tracks & Drive Sprockets by Friulmodel

Scratch built Tow Cables, Starter Crank, Fighting Compartment, exhausts, Optical Sights, Coaxial Machinegun, Lifting Eyes on Turret and various lifting handles, adding weld detail, detail to Loader's Hatch, and cleaning rods.

Mighty Tiger! Prosit John this is a nightmarish job, trying to bring in so much detail on thios beast and you managed spot on!

But John did you have referance for all those details

To amplify a little more. The early production King Tiger ( please note that the reference to this tank having a Porsche designed turret is incorrect as this turret was in fact designed and built by Krupp. The model I built is not related to any particular unit however it is noteworthy that the some early King Tigers soldered on till the end of the War that is practically over a year since being built. One year for a tank is a very long time especially a German one. Early production King Tigers served in France (Normandy etc..), Belgium ( Battle of the Bulge), Holland (Arnhem), Germany and Hungary to name a few countries.
Typical finishes for the early King Tigers were Dark Yellow (my choice), Dark Yellow with Red Brown, Dark Yellow with Olive Green, Dark Yellow with Red Brown and Olive Green and also Dark Yellow with whitewash.

Terrific job!, great attension to detail too. Did you apply the Zimm yourself with putty?

The Zimmerit is the ATAK set which gives you a complete hollkow turret, gun mantlet and hull machine gun mount and thin resin sheets for the hull
