Crazy...

Indeed, it was crazy racing in 1967 with a machine featuring the newly designed Ford Cosworth DFV engine, weighting a little more than 500 kilograms, delivering more than 400 horsepower, no traction control and no electronic aids... and yet they did it.

Also crazy was releasing in 1968 a 1/12 scale model kit, with rubber tires, fully functional suspension, fully functional steering... and yet Tamiya did it.

Maybe it's crazy, almost 50 years later, reediting the kit in 1/12 scale of the Lotus 49. Exactly that same kit? No, just better: with Cartograf printed decals, a photoetch sheet and turned metal air intakes... and yet, Tamiya did it again, with both the Lotus 49 and the M23 from 1974.

It might be crazy as well, after being missed for many years, to get back in our warehouse in very limited quantities the 037, the Lancia Delta and the Escort from Hasegawa; the 191, the 99T, the GT1, the GT2, the GT3, the 6-wheel Tyrrell, the RA272, the MP4/13 and the RGV-G from Tamiya... but we did it

And while we were at it, we got some other crazy things: the freshly edited Lotus 72E from Ebbro with new decals, as well as their Lotus 72C and their Tyrrell 003, the 037 and the Stratos with the Chardonnet decoration from Hasegawa, and finally in Spain the Ducati Panigale from Tamiya.

Top Studio gives you wings!!!

What is the goal of every modeler? To build scale models as realistic as possible, with almost perfect finishes. But let's be honest: we mostly want them to look cool, reaaaaaally cool. And the guys at Top Studio are here to give us wings to reach this goal with their new products.

Let's start with the jewel of this week: the superdetail kit to really give wings to the RB6. It doesn't get any more detailed than that!!!

But we have a lot more. For bikers, those wings come in the shape of three references for the Suzuki RGV-G XR74: one for improving the chain, another for replacing the front fork, and the third for improving mechanical parts, brake discs and front fork. And for the Ducati 1199 Panigale, the detail-up set that will help you improve brake discs, rear shock, handlebar ends, mechanical parts and more and more...

The MP4/5B, a mind-blowing machine from the times of Senna that you can now enhance with the photoetch set below. The spoilers will look like actual wings!!!

And in addition, a few electronic connectors on different sizes, suitable for 1/12, 1/20 and 1/24 scales, bronze made and identical to the ones used in actual car and bikes.

How your heart beats...

Our inspiration this week came from Judas Priest "Turbo Lover" song lyrics:

You won't hear me / but you'll feel me / without warning / something's dawning / listen: new 1/43 scale Formula One from Tameo. The last season Lotus Renault E22, Senna's 1997 championship Lotus Honda 99T, and Alain Prost's F1-90. You can't run for cover!!

Wrapped in horsepower / driving into fury / changing gears / Senna got the best from the MP4/5B. And Top Studio says that their detail-up sets fit like no other.

In perfect synchronicity with our previous SpotModel newsletter, we have new connectors from Top Studio for detailing in 1/12, 1/20 and 1/24 scales.

And we feel so close to heaven this week that we're about to explode: Fujimi has reedited the Porsche 917, the Ford GT 40 and the AMG C-Class from DTM, released the Z4 GT3, and three new versions of the McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail!

Smokin' hot...

During the eighties, a mind blowing machine arrived to the market: the Porsche 944 Turbo, the most powerful 4 cylinder sports car ever built... and even today it keeps that title! Several years ago, Hasegawa edited two very interesting kits of the Porsche 944 Turbo and the Porsche 968, now reedited again and brought to all wonderful and powerful 80s and 90s German sport car lovers like you.

In addition, we have also received this week a few amazing products that you're going to love: ultra thin masking tapes from Aizu, powerful photoetch cutting scissors from Tamiya, and the awesome sticking masking paper sheets also from them. You're workbench will certainly get smokin' hot!!

And you call that a job?

Some gorgeous red boxes have just arrived from Japan with the Studio27 logo printed in big white letters, and one of them has "R18 24h LM 2014" written on the side. The face of the boss turned crazy, he grabbed one box and hid in his office for the whole afternoon. Working hard? I guess not... just look at what he wrote on the blog

Along with the Le Mans Audi R18 came two red boxes of the reeditions of the Arrows A2 kits from the French, Nederlands and Italian Grand Prix. We hope that the boss misses them...

And more from Studio27: the 1982 Tour de Corse decals and the photoetches for the recently reedited BMW M1.

In addition, this week we have a two new brands premiere, each one more interesting than the other: Mineshima, a Japanese forger of precision files, and Museum Collection, also Japanese, with the most realistic carbon fiber pattern decals ever made according to all modeling gurus. Hide them, the boss is comming!!!

Don't miss also the Lotus 98T and the MP4/4 from MFH in 1/12 scale, both belonging to high level limited editions, only for seasoned modelers reaching their limits.

One of the Greatest...

307 races, 155 podiums, 91 times GP winner, 5 World Championships in a row... without any doubts, Michael Schumacher is one of the greatests. Tameo is also a great manufacturer of Formula 1 metal models in 1/43 scale, but from time to time they also make great things in 1/24 scale such as the F1 2000, F1 2001 and F1 2002 that this great pilot drove to glory.

Great are also the Formula 1 pit crew, tireless workers, always at the box. And we bring them to you in 1/20 scale, both the pit crew and their pitwall stand, to make your dioramas greater.

Also another one of the unquestionable greatest is Casey Stoner, that dropped our jaws in his first appearance in MotoGP in 2006. The Honda RC211V he rode is now available for you at SpotModel.

And if you've not already tried them, the decals from Racing Decals 43 are also big. But reaaaaally big: the biggest decal sheets we've ever seen. Green...

Along with the spring, there comes the green color. Everything turns green: the fields, the gardens, the streets... ¡even cars and scale models! Yes, yes, scale models too, with the Zero Paints Pramac Green for the Ducati bikes. Green with envy, the Lotus 79 switches from black to Martini Green with the help of Tameo. And the opposite applies too: the Vaillant Porsche 934, switching from green with white letters, to white with green letters, thanks to Reji decals.

Fujimi is another one of the brands under Alboreto's motto, and this week they bring us two versions of the FW14B in addition to the race version of the Mini Cooper Mk. I, and several Ferraris: 599 GTB Fiorano, 512TR and 348GTB.

Aoshima is another brand that keeps astonishing us and doesn't fall behind, with spectacular kits, eternal part break ups, awesome plastics, and Cartograf printed decals, just like it happens in the McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail sponsored by Lark we've just received.

Let's go rallying!!!

This week, our rally-lover SpotModelers got VERY lucky... We bring you rally, rally and more rally

As our main highlight, Reji Models delights us with the reedition of one of the classic rally kits, the Audi Quattro Sport in 1/24 scale, a completely mind blowing vehicle at his time that still causes admiration nowadays.

We also have in the shelves the new decals by Racing Decals 43 for the 037 and the DS3 at Montecarlo, and a beauty: the awesome decoration for Zanardi's Z3 GT3. On top of that, Mf-Zone expanded his rally decals catalogue with a good pile of decorations for the Fiesta and the Fabia, and also brings us some very interesting decals for the Impreza racing at the Barum Rally 2003.

Model Factory Hiro have reedited both Piquet's and Patrese's BT52 in 1/20 scale: ok, those are not rally cars (most of the time), but they belong to a limited edition that will as well jump off the shelves. And we don't forget about the little ones in 1/43 scale with the decals for the March Ford 761B in the different versions racing at Great Britain and South Africa.

The Repsol NSR500 scale model was released by Tamiya a few years ago, and now Shunko have redesigned its decals so you can replace the ones in your kit.

Rallies and scale modeling have a lot in common: they're both challenges that need huge amounts of skill, and in both you have to go through the different stages with determination, regularity and steady hands.

Well... yes, you go a little bit faster in rallies than in scale modeling, but that's not the point... or is it?

Vintage is totally in...

Evil tongues say that most men doesn't know anything about fashion (and scale modellers even less)... So, to shut some mouths, here's one of the coolest trends: a vintage look for your scale model kits.

Virages brings us a good pile of new retro logos decals. Those fond of aged tasting kits will love the oldest Castrol logos, while others such as the Wynn's decals confirms that the Eighties are in full swing.

13 years old!!

Everybody knows that number 13 is not welcome at the races, but it really feels "divine" celebrating 13 years with you

Only a few online scale modeling shops have reached this age, and fewer are the daredevil pilots who took the risk of racing with number 13 sticker on their cars. Among them, only one woman who bravely fought to get his spot in a male dominated world, Divina Galica, a British pilot racing for qualifying and finally compete at the Formula 1. This week we bring her appealing Surtees edited by This Way Up in 1/43 scale.

And another reason to celebrate: the huge amount of new products with the Porsche logo this week... definitely the Boss' sweet spot!! :-OOOO Studio27 brings us the Porsche 919 kit in 1/24 scale racing last year at Le Mans... that's a gorgeous decoration! Spectacular!!!

Brilliant AND competitive...

It's hard to be both brilliant and competitive at the same time, but the world famous Australian bike pilot Wayne Gardner got to be brilliant in the late 80s and early 90s over his competitive ride by the Honda factory team. He won his first race in the Spanish circuit of Jarama, and reached the World Championship in 1987. A few weeks ago we introduced the Honda NSR500 kit by Hasegawa he rode in 1989, and now we bring the brilliant detail sets by Top Studio for this beauty: a chain set, a front fork and the full detail-up set.

Japan manufacturers, the most brilliant and competitive in the scale modeling world without any doubts, delights us with new decals and some reeditions. By Sunko Models: decals for Dakar Rally Peugeot 405, DTM Opel Calibra V6, Kankkunen and Auriol's Celicas of 1993 and 1994, Carlos Checa and John Kocinski decals for the 1998 NSR, Sainz's Celica at the '92 Safari Rally, and the gorgeous Toyota Supra GT sponsored by Marlboro, all of them for the old Tamiya kits.

On the other side, Studio27 has released to the market two carbon fiber patterns, this time for the Ferrari F189 by Tamiya and the Ferrari 641/2 F1-90 by Fujimi, along with photoetched parts for Schumacher's Ferrari F310B. And for deserts, the HB logos for the '90 NSR500 by Tabu.

Waves...

Surfing the summer waves, we bring you this week Wave Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of modelling accessories, including a few essential plastic and metal materials for scratch building and detailing.

We have started adding their plastic-made pipe ranges in several different diameters, both hollow and solid, as well as their brass-made metallic hollow pipes, perfectly fitting one on each other.

The intoxicating emotion and ecstasy that pilots feel when they win a race, or even more when it's a World Championship, extends without any doubt to the machine that helped them achieve it. As a child!!!

No, we've not moved into Gundam We are civil vehicles scale modelers, we love building scale models, and we enjoy our obsession for reaching top realism, top precision, excellence in every detail, perfection. But... what if just for one time we enjoyed it just like children, building without rules, anarchically, just for pure fun, doing anything we wanted each time and letting our imagination run wild? I'm sure we would get the funniest results

I can perfectly picture the Revell BMW i8 turned into a transformer, proudly showing off all the new Zero Paints colors: his original ones (Crystal White, Ionic Silver, Sophisto Grey) and the ones which doesn't belong to it (kevlar, aluminum, Erdbeerrot), painting a lot more with our favorites ) Watch those firing fingers!!!

The new decals by Shunko Models are incredibly cool, and the solution to bring back to life some of your old Tamiya kits: Ducati 888, FW07, FW13B, CLK-GTR D2, Jordan J191. But among all of them, my true favorite are the B192 decals by Tabu, including eeeevery blue camel logo. It has so many that you can even split them with your friends
