A few months ago, and live from Nuremberg Toy Fair, we told you about the wonderful Toyota's TS050 Hybrid scale model kit that Tamiya presented at the event, and today we have it for you in stock at SpotModel warehouse!!!! Go go go, hurry up, they are all warmed up and waiting for your order

Right now the kit has "little companion": only Komakai has done their homework and arrived right on time with their Fast Guide about the car, but in a few weeks both the color set by Zero Paints and the additional decals by Blue Stuff will be arriving. At the moment we have no news of photo-etched partss, carbon fiber pattern decals, or resin parts, but surely the manufacturers will slowly release their products. We will wait patiently, there is no problem

Ukrainian Scale Car Production

There is an expression in Spanish that says "El que la sigue la consigue" (if you persevere, you'll finally get it). It means that whoever wants something, if they work really hard, they will finally achieve it. It is a wonderful phrase that motivates and promises a happy ending to all those who strive every day to fulfill their goals and desires.

One of the brands that for many years we've always wanted to carry at SpotModel was Ukrainian Scale Car Production, and after a long time "persevering", we finally got it!!! Yay!!!

These guys design engines, tires, and parts for our models that are really superb, and on top of that, the copies they cast in resin aftwerwards are incredibly fine, incredibly clean, and they also have incredible ideas.

During the next weeks we will receive the first units of their products, right now you can't reserve them yet, but you can add them to your "notifications" and get an email the minute they arrive to SpotModel warehouse.

Blue Stuff

In our tireless effort to put at your disposal all the interesting stuff that is appearing, as far as civilian modeling is concerned, this week we bring good news again. Or, in other words, this week we continue expanding our already long list of manufacturers

On this occasion we present the French brand "Blue Stuff", with a large number of biker references in their product catalog. We are not 100% sure if the name refers to blue stuff literally, for us it sounds more like "wellDesignedManufacturedAndPackagedByPeopleWhoLovesModels" stuff. Yes, surely that's what it means :-)

The first product supply from this manufacturer arrived a few days ago, and we only could cry with the excitement, drool with the emotion, and our right eyelid twitched heavily when we closely analyzed their stuff. The decals are designed with excellent detail, the manuals are clear and well explained, and it's a pleasure to look at them because they are divinely made. The resin parts are smooth and perfect. What else can you ask for?

Depending on your time zone, now it is 24 hours (more or less) before the start of what embodies, without any doubts, the biggest annual event in the world of endurance races: the incredible 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking place at the La Sarthe circuit long before most of us were born

On this occasion, famous drivers with mythical cars will be racing, some of which already are or will be available in a short time as scale models so we can build them: even some manufacturers are already starting to position themselves announcing their new decorations and, within a few days, also some kits. We love that!!!

One month ago we were all sadly surprised by the news: Niki Lauda, the great Austrian tri-champion Formula 1 driver, left us. His first victory happened in Spain in 1974 behind the wheel of a Ferrari 312 B3, the same one we talked about at SpotModel's blog a while ago. Since then, he gifted us spectacle and emotion in almost 200 races. A great guy with impressive driving skills.

Us, formula 1 loving scale modelers that admire this great driver and accept great challenges, can now pay him a well-deserved tribute by building the Ferrari 312T2 in 1/12 scale that has just been released by MFH. And for sure new kits recreating Niki's cars will come out soon

M3 E30

A couple of years ago, Beemax released to the market the BMW M3 E30 kit from the official team racing the 1991 DTM, an true bestseller. Then came the rally version with the Bastos livery at the 1988 Tour de Corse. Now they are giving us another chance to get this awesome product, this time with a reedition of the track version delivered with both the Fina and Jagermeister decorations at the 1992 DTM races. That's both crazy AND beautiful!!!

To make things even better, for this new version we can also use all the material that is already available in the market, since it's based on the same moulds. You'll be able to use with this edition ALL the decals available from different manufacturers, Komakai's reference books, Renaissance's resins and photo-etched parts, or Scale Productions's and Decalcas's paint masks.

Today we want to bring a bit of joy to those modellers who enjoy sanding and polishing. We have added to our website the Flex-i-File pads and sandpapers that almost certainly you already know. The magic of these sandpapers is that they reach up to 12000 grit, allowing you to polish crystals or two-component lacquer. They work well dry, but even better when they are wet with only a few drops of water. And another fact in their favor: the last and last and last for reaaally looong

Jolly Club, also known as Jolly Club Totip, was an Italian team that raced the World Rally Championship, the European Championship, the Italian Championship and even in Formula 1, mainly with Lancia and Alfa Romeo vehicles, achieving one of the greatest victory records in the history of the Italian motorsports.

i20 WRC

If we asked all scale modelers who build modern rally cars in 1/24 scale, 99.999% of the respondents will say they dream about building the Hyundai i20 WRC. Absolutely no plastic model manufacturer has ever dared to face the challenge, BUT... we got lucky! After several years of hard working and huge efforts the resin model finally sees the light by the hands of V-Modeller!!! Great!!!!

First units are estimated to arrive at SpotModel's shelves by mid/late September and, based on what we could peek, the stuff looks REAAAAALLY good. All parts have been digitally designed, the masters have been materialized using modern 3D printers, and the resin and photo-etched parts look really interesting.

Fancy colors

This week we are going to talk about a well known manufacturer that is still missing at the many modelers' workbenches: Zero Paints, the paint brand for civil vehicles that has the most extensive reference catalog for painting motorcycles, trucks and cars.

And why do we civilian scale model builders like Zero Paints so much? For instance, because Zero Paints colors have been formulated in England using actual vehicles tones as a reference. Or because their paints are already pre-thinned, ready for airbrush use, with just shaking the bottle for a while

For those who did not know them yet, or that never have tried their products, we will tell you that they are usually served in 30ml bottles (which are suitable for air shipping outside Europe) or in 60ml bottles. Only primers and auxiliary and finishing products are served in larger quantities. You have at your disposal gloss, matt and satin varnishes, polishes, primers, waxes, and many other things, and you can even formulate custom colors on demand!!!

Isn't that more than enough? Well now the best: you can also have the perfect colors for the latest novelties. Some examples? The mighty box

If you are a nostalgic modeler, you have to admit that you have dreamed many times with the Porsche 934 RSR kit in 1/12 scale by Tamiya since it first saw the light in 1976, because it is very likely that your economy in those young days didn't allow you the access to that magic "Mighty Box".

Back in 2009 Tamiya gave us the chance to access a re-edition of the kit, this time with some additional photo-etched parts that were not included in the first version, so the dream or many of us was fulfilled when the "Mighty Box" arrived at our workbenches. Time goes by really fast... It's been two months since we celebrated the greatest endurance race on the planet, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which like every year had emotions and surprises before, during, and even after the race.

One of the sad news this year has been the farewell of the Ford GT to the racetracks, for which the Chip Ganassi Racing team prepared a deserved tribute to the epic sports car, decorating the four cars that took part in the race with the colors and designs they wore when they made history winning the laurels in the 1966, 1967 and 2016 editions at La Sarthe track. A fifth unit, belonging to the Keating Motorsport team and with a beautiful decoration, took the glories in its category, although only for a few hours.

But time is relative... just two months ago that race ended, and thanks to Shunko Models you already have all five decorations of the Ford GT available, all that raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2019, all of them for the Revell kit. We love them!!! And you too

Who didn't have a car or fire truck as a child...? if you didn't, surely you have dreamed of having one. This attraction has to do, of course, with the admiration aroused in general by firefighters, those heroes that save lives and difficult situations every day, and in the same manner, with the vehicle itself: so magnificent, so red, so shiny, with those many tools and accessories...

i20 WRC 2019

Gentlemen, we have very good news from Belkits headquarters: now they finally got the official Hyundai license to manufacture their Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC scale model just as it raced the World Rally Championship on this 2019 season. Yaaaay!! They just made us happy, very happy :-)))

At the moment there are no details about the model parts, but the livery will recreate the one used by Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul in their victory at the Tour de Corse, or "CORSICA Line Tour de Corse - Rallye de France" as French speakers say.

We still have to wait a few months for the model to arrive at your workbench, so let's better start training our good modeler's patience for the long wait. And what better way to spend time with some of the cool novelties just arrived at SpotModel shelves, such as the Tamiya scale models of the Honda Monkey or the Mercedes AMG GT3 with Leon Cvstos livery, the Beemax models of the Mitsubishi Lancer 2000 Turbo or the Toyota Carina ST191 with the new BTCC decoration, etc...

Finesse

Some of us modelers know that our models are the very very best and that they are waaaaay better built than those of our friends. Without any doubts!!! And those friends are always wondering what is the secret of our fantastic assemblies... very few know, but it is the "finesse".

Our models do have the finest finishes and lots of details that, maybe they aren't quite noticeable, but there they are. And that's because there is a difference between just painting a spoiler in plain boring black, and doing it using the carbon pattern decals by Studio27, a subtle difference that tells apart a "plasticus vulgaris" from a "modelus excelentis". Obviously, our models does have these carbon patterns, designed to fit the model like a glove

Of course, the Toyota TS050 by Tamiya that we're all building will also use the new carbon pattern decals released by Studio27 we already have available at SpotModel. Yaaaaaaay!!!

Ragnotti

It is absolutely unnecessary to introduce Jean Ragnotti, but in case someone was not paying attention we will make a brief presentation: he is a French driver who has raced in rallies, Le Mans, rallycross, tourism, the Dakar... which has always been really fast (counting among his many achievement the conquest of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1981 or the Tour de Corse in 1982 and 1985), that is a cult figure for the Renault brand, and that is one of the most famous and charismatic drivers because, above everything, he is nice, sociable... a great guy, in plain words. We have met him on several occasions and always, every single time he has greeted us, we have talked for a while, and every single time he was planning a new joke. Hats off!

Well, this boy, who is already 74 years old, has announced that he's hanging the steering wheel, that he will not race anymore, although he will occasionally show at some exhibitions from time to time. With a bit of luck you can still watch him spinning chained loops with the Renault Maxi Turbo. We wish!!

Mmmmmm and, now that he's retired, is he going to start ordering scale models at SpotModel? Who knows! XD

Year 1977, the Porsche 928 is released to the market, a machine with a V8 engine that roars like few others, with an aluminum self-supporting chassis (so light that it can be carried by just two people), and with a performance, comfort and balance that even today causes sensation. Nothing can stop us!

It's said that best things come in small packages... like our beloved scale model paints: so colorful, so attractive, so seemingly harmless, but they can become dangerous, specially if they are transported by airplane.

In fact, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), in its good work for the safety of air traffic, impose significant restrictions on what is called "hazardous materials (hazmats)", and that also applies to scale modeling paints.

That is why at SpotModel, paint shipping is available unrestricted for Europe as long as its carried via surface shipping by our courier partners, and worldwide available as long as IATA regulations are met, that is, including only 30ml or smaller containers, from one unit to a maximum of one liter per shipment.

Since many months ago we have been begging Zero Paints to release their products in 30ml format so we can ship them to all modelers worldwide, and little by little more references in this size are coming to light. BT52b

Gordon Murray, the designer genius at Brabham, popped out of his pencil the Brabham BMW BT52 in 1983, which raced at the tracks decorated in blue and white. By the middle of the season it evolved to the BT52b, recognizable by its "inverted" decoration in white and blue, and achieving 3 glorious and unforgettable victories in the World Championship.

Since the very early days of Tameo Kits we have been able to build this beautiful Formula 1 in 1/43 scale, but more than 30 years had to gone by to (FINALLY!) have it also in plastic in 1/20 scale. Two years ago Beemax made us happy with the BT52, and now they have done the same with the BT52b. Gentlemen... this deserves a loud applause!!!

X Lands of El Cid

Next week the X Modeling Contest "Tierras del Cid" will take place in the beautiful city of Burgos (Spain).

We've heard some rumors... it seems that this year, one of the judges of the Contest section, particularly in the category of civil vehicles, is going to be a person that looks like a guy and says he knows one or two things about scale modeling, a little about motor sports and a lot about having a good time and a few beers with the contestants. He is (drum roll)... our beloved Big Boss at SpotModel! X-D

In addition, during the meeting, the Boss will give a small talk on Saturday afternoon about the present and future of SpotModel's Print Lab. For once, and without setting a precedent, he will also give a strawberry lollipop to everyone who come to hear it!!! For free!!! The Boss is definitely out of his mind
