32nd scale Matchbox 109E
The intention was to superdetial this bird but the kit plastic proved to be so brittle that it keeps breaking off in the most awkward of places. I cannot really cut and play about with it as i want to so the concept has changed and there will be no detailing at all. The state of the plastic is worse than that of the 24th scale model with which i encountered the same problem. This can break into peices at the slightest sign of pressure so the going is delicate. i shall just build it with the barest of detail. Work starts as usual in the cockpit. All brown plastic is the kit stuff the phtoetched is from the verlinden set, rudder pedals and seat belts are from Radu Brinzan. All other stuff is scratchbuilt. Cream resin is also from the verlinden set. here goes, i have just completed the seat and cockpit floor and have started detiailing the cockpit walls. in the meantime the fuselage halves have had the skin stressing effect carried out on them and because of this, the panel lines have been greatly subdued and in many instances had to be rescribed.

Hi Brian
I'm sure this'll turn out a great masterpiece as the rest of the models you laid your magical hands upon, despite the problems you mentioned.
Keep at it Brian.

Marco, its going to be an E4, from the BoB era (August 1940) yellow 1 flown by Gerhard Schopfel of 9/JG26. if there is anything i need to watch out for or fix, I will be happy if you could point it out. Thanks

Most of the pit is done. I need to work on the instrument panel and then i can close the fuselage halves. Here are the cockpit sides all done up

Re: 32nd scale Matchbox 109E
Its the Verlinden set for the Hasegawa kit and all needs to be modified to fit this one so it is not easy going anyway. But yes, it did help.

Re: 32nd scale Matchbox 109E
An overdue update. here is where this project is at. Almost ready for painting. Just the undercarriage doors to detail and the prop and then its painting time. Whoopee!!! was going to drop the leading edge slats but decided against that. This plastic is falling apart. the wings broke into about 6 pieces when i was gluing the two halves together. The clamps were too much for the plastic and they just went through. It is very delicate.

Re: 32nd scale Matchbox 109E
thanks for the comments guys glad you like it.
Noel, the panels have been subjected to a stressed skin effect and also the entire model riveted.
I did not come to the exhibition because i was passing through a bit of a difficult and stressful time and the last thing i had on my mind was the transportation of models to and from the place. I was definitely not in the right frame of mind but then i felt very bad seeing the articles and the items on the news. Missed the atmosphere and your new models. i hope to have some new stuff for next year. in any case i had nothing new to show.
thanks again for looking.
