I agree with Brian much better mate, what I just notice is some are a bit grainy but defenition is there, so I still think your playing around with softwares is giving this result not the camera and operator

Re: Piper Kenneth MacKay
Ray C, Brian, Ivan & Alex thanks for your words and I am/will consider ALL your options/proposals, but at the moment all I'm concerned about (since I managed to overcome even if a LITTLE bit, the CRAPPY and LOUSY pics) is getting the TARTAN done by tomorrow (have to stop now as I have a bet with Samwel later on at PV ) before the mixes for the TARTAN get dry (thank God for this humidity at least, as sealed with tape the mix would last for several days)
So tomorrow I would tackle the red stripes which for your info run in a set of FOUR red stripes on each square of Blue, BlueGreen amd Green obviously in two different patterns as can be viewed from the photo I submitted earlier on
Pics are UNTOUCHED (fresh from the camera ) this time round unlike the previous batch which only had the face pics intact

Re: Piper Kenneth MacKay
William, thanks for looking
Could not finish the red stripes today as they're driving me insane
Hope to paint some more tomorrow and also hope to finish on Monday.....didn't stop to shoot pics today, but will shoot some tomorrow before the final push on Monday. It will be good to show the way the stripes are laid in before SO MANY TOUCH UPS are NEEDED/APPLIED to bring everything to a decent/acceptable appearance

Re: Piper Kenneth MacKay
Starting to look like a Tartan now! The white stripes really start to give it shape!
@ One comment though: the white intersecting square looks more like a dot! Can you make a square?
@ Question: do you have a flexible ruler to paint the lines or you just hold the brush, take a deep breath and hope for the best the phone does not ring at that moment!
In my humble opinion, you have a chance for a 'Commended' when it's ready!!!!
Isma...... enough.......... your doing a good job as usual. I believe that to build and paint like you do, one must have a dose of artistry in him..... and you have it!
Pics are good too.
Regards
Noel

Morn Noel
Have been waiting your post since 5am as I'm at work
Now I can start my daily round up of the baddies
Re white stripe........it does look whiteish but it is a green ochre actually yes I agree again that on the pics it looks white
Also for the red stripes which obviously you can't see because that is at a later stage from the pics shown I have used Red Ochre
Anyway hope to FINALIZE this dreaded tartan later this afternoon, and shoot and post some decent pics before midnight

White or not white, it looks great and you really managed to make it look like material. You can almost feel the texture. that thing has always fascinated me whenever you paint your figures. Their clothes look ike they should feel. Great work.

Sorry I just can't hold on any longer
My eyes are DEAD TIRED
Have been awake since 04.00
Can't risk any mishaps while trying to re emphasize the intersecting red and yellow lines
So I'm hitting the hay now
God Willing, tomorrow will wake up with fresh eyes finalize kilt and shoot and post pics early after noon

Re: Piper Kenneth MacKay
As much as I wanted to get the last couple of hours done and away with, so I could shoot pics, post and continue with the rest of the figure, I just could not my conscience didn't let me do it
The thing is this........I painted the red stripe grid passing from on top the green and blue green bands a bit on the wide side on both the bag and the kilt I contemplated SEVERAL times yesterday of re painting these, but fought with myself as I argued that it would pass as it was and also I really wanted to get the dreaded tartan out of the way so that I continue with the rest of the figure
Late in my slaeep at about 04.30, I dreamt that we were at the airport ready to go to Spain, but kept wondering what I left behind during our wait to board the aircraft, I remembered asa we were called to board......I JUST LEFT MY CARRY CASE at home with the UNFINISHED Piper u can imagine how relieved I was when I woke up however my conscience KEPT TINGLING me like the SINNER I WAS
So after a strong coffee, I just rolled my sleeves and went for the RETOUCHING/REPAINTING that was required, like the SSM Breed that I PROUDLY am
My reasoning was/is as follows.......
Ok, we may not win the WNT, but in no way am I going to put Malta's, SSM's and my name in any awkward situation with any shortcuts or rather with anything improperly done I am a slow painter by all means, and this tartan would have taken me far less time if I had to weave it for real, but afa my meagre mortal fibres allow me to paint to my utmost, I am going to do it no matter what! If anything, I would be targeting Class 2 at EuroMilitaire with this Piper and aspiring for a high award like I always aspire after all
Time to get a vacation after all those colourful grids so am shaving and showering to go out
Will shoot and post pics tomorrow God Willing

Re white stripe........it does look whiteish but it is a green ochre actually yes I agree again that on the pics it looks white
I think it should be WHITE! THe clan was actually called GUNN of the Black King Man.
The problem was that both regiments would have to wear the same tartan and obviously the 42nd had precedence so they substituted the yellow stripe for WHITE!
Probably it was derived from the Jacobite tartan which had evident white stripes on many of their clan tartans.
My opinion

Re: Piper Kenneth MacKay
I just noticed something and I was curious.
On the back of the skirt the white line is exactly on the fold. Is this how they were folded or you chose to do this for ease of painting? Also, with the line being on the fold and happens to be light, it gives an automatic highlight to the folded areas!
Just curious!

Noel, it is called a KILT and I found out (AFTER I STRIPPED THE WHOLE TARTAN thanks to you)that the white line you remarked was/is YELLOW so am painting again what I have painted in the first place
The KNIFE PLEATS (x'nitkessah ghax qrajt u taghllimt nitfa ) are folded in such a way so as to show the yellow vertical thread on top of the fold and for no other reason

TARTAN IS READY
For once in a very very long time, and without sounding anything which I AM NOT,(a good photographer that is ) I feel that I can literally let the pics do the talking, as I AM REALLY PLEASED with the PICS which are UNTOUCHED, fresh from my digicam

Nice SKIRT!
The lines are perfect..........you have a steady hand, mate!
I must assume that each line had to be 99% correct during the painting phase. I don't think mistakes, like a shaky line, would be easy to amend!
Great job! I think now you have earned the honor to wear the skirt of this clan!

Wow man, you have really outdone yourself this time, i can feel the material on that kilt and it is really thick and woolen. What a lovely job. You have painted kilts before but this is your definite best. It looks absolutely great!!
