I still hold my ground!
As far as I know Alpine only make sets of 2 figures...... you must have another brand.
But as far as my diorama goes I'm good with figures.... thanks anyway.
Regards
Noel

Yes yes it is a set of two figures with 4 heads and they are ALPINE and it had nothing to do with your diorama....it is re since you are an AFV enthusiast and may find use for them that's all

Beautiful work on that Kubelwagen Noel!
Myself just got my behind back to the bench.. Now I know what I should be aiming for in looks.

Nice one...
I would mix different tones of pigments though...it looks too monotone...
Great work nonetheless...

Great fence, this is going to be really good when finished. Can you show us a pic of the whole layout?

Nice work on the Kubel Noel, the fence looks good too although the vertical posts are not exactly parallel.

On my monitor they are showing PARALLEL
I'm sure Noel intended to make them look like this, which I do agree to a certain point, because in real life they could be like that (still it reflects a careless fence builder whoever he might be) but on a model they would show the modeller as an even more of a careless modeller IMHO, and sorry Noel it is My Humble Opinion as I said.......to me they are exactly what I said they are.....the result of a haphazard job....they would not compliment such a sublime job you did on the Kubelwagon

This is an old farm house and living there is an old couple (still have to paint them). The fence could have been there since WWI or built by the old man himself. I prefer to display a worn out fence instead of a perfectly aligned fence. It adds to the character of the farm house.Ray wrote:Tancred wrote:

Noel,
Not that sure about that big glass window, looks odd for french cottages IMHO, was that in the kit?
Apart all that glasswindow in a battlefield looks strange, probably it would have been masked up so that at night it would not show any inside light apart that another interesting touch would have been tape to hold that glass from falling off dangerously incase the area be underattack ... I like that the house is not a ruine, ruins are too much of the norm, but it needs to indicate that the area shows that they are prepared for the worst ... which is already there !

If the place was somewhere remote in the country it would not have been subjected to much punishment and maybe the war would not effect life in that area. I don;t think that all places in France and Germany experienced the war in the same way.

Brian
It's the Blitzgrieg in France, not the invasion of Normandy! The Germans were pushing the French and the Brits not just conquering land, so I guess from that area surely some french/british soldiers might have passed, if not soldiers refugees from the major cities, so moral would be low and locals might already start preparing for any unforseen outcome ... lets face it the French were expecting to win that conflict not the fury of the blitz, seeing/hearing their soldiers fleeing in defeat or worst seeing the Huns in their neighbourhood was not expected as a warm welcome! These are French mate, winners of the Great War, a proad nation!
Personally I also do not like that when we show architecture it has to be a ruine, but then again it has to communicate the action and history.

Nice set up. I tend to agree about the window glazing with Ivan and also agree with brian's point, that this area was saved by the ravages of war. Another thing that I am not sure about is the tree stump, it looks to artificial. Apart these 2 points, the setup looks great.

The glass window came with the kit. It's all made of resin.
My interpretation:
THe scene should tell a story of two officers (placed at the left of the dio) that are trying to locate their artillery position in the distance. One of the officers is from the Bison and the other officer presumably was being driven in the Kubelwagon escorting the small column of Bisons.
They are probably lost or trying to take a better note of the terrain ahead. But while they are doing so the crew of the Bison, daring youths!.... go quickly to knock on the old couples house for some goodies ....they manage to aquire some wine and apples! THe Farmer dare not argue.... while his wife watches from the balcony on top.
The house is not in the immediate battle danger. Many owners in many battle torn countries have somehow chosen to stay in their houses. This house here, considering the narrow road and grass field is situated in large farm lands.
I am more concerned about the colour of the fence ...... WHICH I'M GOING TO CHANGE TO WHITE!!!!!

Noel, keep the fence blue to add colour, just weather it to give some aged look, personally I feel white gonna be too stricking!
May I suggest to make some contrast between the roof tiles and teh bricks, looks similar hue in the foto and brikes too uniform, if you add a couple of different shades would kill that uniformity, what do you think ...
