Re: Teutonic knights in 1:72 scale
Can someone recommend me a good matt varnish, as I'm painting Bishop von Tartu and whatever I do the red caparison and cloak keep drying to a gloss finish. I think it's due to the GW washes I'm using.

Re: Teutonic knights in 1:72 scale
Last I dropped in Khobbies he had the Paebeo varnish out of stock [x'kien!!!!!!!], so as it was a last minute urgency I went for the Vallejo Matt Varnish and worked quite well both on acrylics and oils ...

Re: Teutonic knights in 1:72 scale
Thanks Guys. I will check at KHobbies.
I tried using thinned Tamiya matt medium (the one we add to valleyo paints to flat them down) but everything turned white when dry!

Re: Teutonic knights in 1:72 scale
I think I will have to opt for a vignette not a diorama as time is pressing and I don't like two of the finished mounted knights. I am thinking of a vignette made up of a Grtand Master, Standard bearer and a sergeant, obviously in a snowy setting. If I'll be lucky, I will finish the knight being helped to mount his horse.

Hi Bros!
The vignette of the Teotonic Knight being helped to mount his horse is ready except for the groundwork, which will be straw, kindly provided by Joseph F. Sorry no photos, but will bring it to the club tomorrow. I sill haven't thought of a good title, so if you can help, I would appreciate.

no Ray they were not meant to do battle on the lake, Nevsky masterminded the place of attack and they took the bait.

Re: Teutonic knights in 1:72 scale
Il-lallu Ray kif irnexxilek tkabbar il-50c?
Prosit mate, I love this mini dio, now start preparing for a multifigure one in a small scale ... well done!
Have to be a nitpicker on this mate, you know how I am on Miles Christi ... so that shield on the ground is for the man at arms or for the knight?
As it has a Tau cross [T] it was only meant for sargeants and man at arms. Tough their were hosed sargeants but probably their armour would be equivalent to lesser poor knights. Teuton Knights did not bear that cross as they were the proudest aristocrats of the period. So if it is for the knight update the cross to a normal Latin one.
For the battle of Lake Peipus many of the Knights most were brethren of the swords [emblem two crossed swords], some Teutons and many mercenaries. If not mistaken there were a couple of Templar adventurers but not sure if they fought under their banner or the Teutons ...ironically Teutons are memorised in history for their severe losses instead of victories, this battle and their doom Grunwald [Tannenberg] ...
