Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Here is another update. I have completed the oil cooler fairings and fitted them onto the lower halves of the engine nacelles. These are now scribed and complete.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
The red stuff is a filler called Bondo which my good friend Brad sent me from the US. It is very easy to apply and the advantages it has over any other filler i have used to date are the following:
- It dries very, very fast
- It is really fine and can fill in even the finest scratches
- It is very easy and soft to sand away and will not give you a hard time.
I found it realy good.

really no word can praise enough your work, great work, detail and craftsmanship!
p.s. regarding the red stuff, does it shrink over time, I mean months/years later?

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
I have not had it for years yet. I have only used it on the Me110's and it seems to be fine up to now. When you are using it, it does not seem to shrink but over time .... I really can't tell yet. Thanks for your compliments. Yours are the neatest models in the world.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
There are two types of Bondo, one kind which is used mostly in the car field for bodywork comes in large quantities and with that stuff you have to add a hardener, I don't know how that stuff would react to plastic models. The other kind is Bondo Spot/Glazing Putty which works great on models. I've known about Bondo for many years from helping my brother with some of his cars when I was a kid, never even thought about using it on models back then. I have been reading about it on some of the modeling boards and everyone was raving over it, my brother wasn't sure how it would react to plastic, but I gave it a try and I wish I would have used this stuff a long time ago, would've made a big difference. It spreads out easily and it sands so much easier than any other putty I have used, it also feathers beautifully. I have been using it for a few months now, I have some 1/144 Saturn V parts that I tried it out on and I haven't put any primer on yet, I haven't noticed any shrinking. For use on real cars, they say it shouldn't be applied more than 1/8 of an inch thick at a time, I haven't ever needed to apply it close to that thick yet on any of my models. They say it dries in between 30 minutes and two hours depending on heat and humidity, I have been able to sand it in between 15 and 20 minutes when I applied it in extremely thin.
Here in the States it's available at any automotive store, I even picked mine up at Wal-Mart. I looked on Amazon.com and it's available there

They also have it in a package of six if club members wanted to go together to save on shipping

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Thanks for the info Brian. From how you describe it and your own personal experience with this stuff, it seems to be a must-have especially due to the ease with which it sands off.
One question, in case I missed it - can Bondo be used on Resin as well? Have you ever tried it on that medium.
It's a good idea to team up and order a 6 pack (or more).
I'd go for one. If anyone else is interested to join up , let me please know.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Two other places I have seen it used, but I haven't tried it for myself yet, but I'm going to:
I have seen it used on paper models, I was surprised that it would work on that.
One guy on a Yahoo group for 1/16 drag racing models that I am a member of would use Bondo to make some nonstructural parts for his drag cars, he would use it in a female mold. They wouldn't be as strong as resin parts, but it's an easy way to make some simple parts that I really want to try out.
Brian had said that Future isn't available in Malta, I just looked and that's also available on Amazon.com, it's surprising what's available through them! Here's the link in case anyone's interested if you're putting in order together for the Bondo.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
BRIAN
missed a lot of this lately ran out of superlatives.
re substitute for miliput instead of militput i use magic sculpt, the stuff the figgy guys use, it is easy to use dries reasonably fast, can be shaped and smoothed with water and i have even turned it on a mini lathe. in my modest opinionion its a lot better than miliput any sort of miliput

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
is it locally available or do i have to send for it? Bondo, is not a substitute for milliput. It is only a finishing filler and not to be used in large quantities. I normally apply very thin layers and build up the amount i need but it is not good for a large volume.
