update on the work in progress in the wheel bays.

This is my interpretation of the wheel bays based on the photos of the existing G4 which has obviously been tampered with but which still has the frames and holes where panels were riveted. So I just fitted in the missing panels. Since I could not find any period photos for the wheel bays I will go with this.

The metal undercarriage I bought for the revell model does not have the rubber boots. I am trying to simulate these using wire and blending it in with white glue to fill the gaps and make it one whole piece not like a spring. I will know how it turned out when I paint it.

Thanks Joseph, not half as neat as your work but it will get better with the paint on. There is so much hacking of plastic and filling in with bits and pieces it is difficult to keep things neat.

Wow, this is some fantastic work Brian, really wild! Can't wait to see it all painted up and weathered.

I haven't been back to this board or most boards in quite awhile, just getting back and I'm going to have to get caught up.

Fantastic detail Brian, this is true modelling experience ... great WIP saga!

You inspired me, though it is nice to just get these new shake and do in the box model we get lately it is real nice to get an old bastard, and bring it up to a highly detailed model, the only problem is it's a lengthy process but I find it very awarding if the project ends successfull ... so will see what I can manage ...

    Nice one Brian lol!

Are you serious? I mean would you REALLY TAKE THEM APART AGAIN if Marco KEEPS WASTING HIS PRECIOUS TIME LOOKING for the ODD DETAIL, INSTEAD OF GETTING TO GRIPS WITH HIS MODELLING??????? pale

Ray, if i KNOW that there is something not right, i will definitely take it apart to fix it. I cannot live with something which is not right if i know about it. i had also taken apart the indian verlinden figure i have when you had told me that his pose wasn't right. So i really do hope that i don;t unearth any new photos.

Bri, I know I know don't worry as I've did it SOMETIMES myself Sad

As you said, if we know that something is wrong & needs adjusting/replacing from scratch again, well we just do it, rather then live with it coz that would mean SLEEPLESS nights pale

However, TAUNTING Marco is always TOO GOOD to let it go by as if it was never there Twisted Evil

Time for an update. Here are some photos of the work i did in the wheel bays. I also very basically painted the crude revell engines black and dry brushed them heavily. This because a small part of the engine will be seen through the clear inspection area on the cowl. This can be seen in the last photo. I can now glue together the upper and lower halves of the engine cowl and start working on the undercarriage itself plus some other detail still missing in the wheel bay.

'Tal-genn' as usual Brian. These things will be beauties!

I don't want to Hijack this most-popular of posts but I wanted to let you guys know that unfortunately my studies are keeping me away from my hobby, the forum and the club for the time being. Got some assignments to finish but the situation should get better by mid May.
