Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Thanks guys for your comments. Wayne, first things first, this is just a hobby. I only started modeling after settling down at home after getting married and completing my course at University. I know that it is an important part of our life but as i said, first things first, concentrate on what you need to do, there will come the time for modeling.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Another update. It is with great pleasure that i announce that the wings are now finally complete and they have been primed. For once, i hardly had any areas to touch up and i am very pleased with the result given the extensive work which was carried out on them using different mediums. Whilst drying out, i have also started working on the undercarriage. The next step is to glue the wings to the fuselage so that i can align the undercarriage and then complete it. There are still some things to go into the wheel wells but all the detail i could fit in without having the undercarriage in place is there. Please criticize!!

Great work...just 1 question: no primer inside the wheel wells?

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Thanks for your nice comment Marco but i am sure that there is something not that perfect and which i could have done better. Mind you i am very satisfied and as i already said, the construction work was so good that i hardly had any faults to fix.
There is no primer inside the wheel wells for 2 reasons:
1. the primer is also a filler and there is some delicate detail there like riveting which i don;t want to obliterate.
2. the primer as applied is rough and needs sanding, there is no way you can ever sand inside those wells without destroying everything so i really cannot apply any primer but just hope for the best.

Nothing to comment about Brian
Those wheel wells are just fantastic, can't wait to see the rest.

Brian, I think you need to be an engineer to be able to reproduce that amount of detail in that quality! Fantastic work... as always.
I couldn't even begin to do anything of the sort. These 110's will be another work of art in the BC Collection! Simply awesome!

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
I bought this 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner about three months back...everything is original accept for the engine but it's a dated 1969 block so it's what's called era-specific.383 cubic inch motor,Hemi 4-speed,Dana-60 Hemi rear end...it's built Dave-proof!I've waited my entire car-loving life for something like this.My buddy owned it for 15 years and put 3000 miles on it.I've had it on the road for 2 months and have put 1000 miles on it.I just love to drive this thing.Sunny days only. The only water this car will see is out of a hose.As it sits it has 60,800 original miles on it.Original interior, you name it...the whole family loves it...

Sounds great Dave but don;t go wasting your great talent for models. Do find some time to build something in between the drives....or when it rains!

Brian Vancouver is infamous for it's rainy winters so I have to enjoy this old car when ever I can but I'll still have plenty of time for building...

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Time for an update guys. The wheel wells are finally finished and here is the result. The kit wheel doors were obviously terrible as is the rest of this kit so i scratched them out of hammered sheet aluminium. There was no way i could replicate all the curves so i hammered aluminium to shape and then trimmed the excess. The kit doors were used as inner lining. They were then beefed up with filler and detail added on by scribing, drilling etc. The most difficult thing to achieve was the wheel door closing cables. These are done using nylon thread and also some fittings made from aluminium. The excess thread seen in the photos will be cut to the right length at the end. i still have to take all this apart for painting so there are loose ends of unglued thread to allow for dismantling and refitting. All detail is now present and correct as far as i can tell. A good number of brass nuts were used throughout. I hope you like the results, i am quite pleased with the outcome.
In the following photos, the ones i made are compared to the dragon model parts.

Re: A tale of 2 Me110's
Thanks guys, that area proved to be quite a headache especially the cable system and the bay doors but it was an interesting piece of modeling. Alex, really great to hear from you. I must see your progress on the Whitley at home, i cannot see anything but red crosses here.
