Feeling much better now. Only a few thorns left in my troat.
Ray, next Wednesday, I will bring with me the 105mm barrel. As you know, the first time, is tougher, as you have to do all the thinking exercise, and that is why I spent three hours on just one barrel. Mind you, the other barrels have cost me between 70 to 90 minutes (per barrel). On the other hand, since the project is mainly based on scratch built components, it seems a waste to purchaae ready made products to reduce the building time.
Ok - I have already purchased the 1:72nd scale photo etched ladders, and am going to for the gang way ladder stairs as well. I purchased the chains, as I cannot imagine doing the middle link on each chain myself. I have already placed the order for the 20mm and the 37mm barrels from (Master Barrels of Poland) - which will be ready by mid summer, as he cannot do it earlier, due to the production of new releases and previous orders.
I managed to modify the cutting tool, in order to give me the availability to be able to work on smaller diameters. Of course the cuts are not deeper than 0.2mm, or the workpiece will start to sway with the pressure of the cutting tool bit.
If you think of it, I have modified over 400 portholes to make them suitable for German ships. I thought that I would have never made it. But I did - with my insistance and with the help of God I managed to do the portholes and the eyebrows from copper wire.
Now that I look back at all that work, I feel proud, that I did it all. Sometimes I think that I bit off more than I could chew, but every human has his own weakness, and we must always do our utmost to overcome our troubles and look at the bright side.
Next Wedneday, when you see the barrel, you will surely agree with me. Believe me, it's a beautiful piece. I never thought that I could really do it, but with some imagination and determination - I did.
Now that the first one is over and done with, the others will cost some 90 minutes on each barrel, as no thinking and engineering is required.
Ray see you next Wednesday and that is a promise. Don't forget to get the master of all with you.
See you brother.
