I had to paint the cowl before because it is full of openings including the ones on top with the gun barrels poking through. So that is done except for the minor touch ups and weathering. But the rest is primer. I just did not find the usual grey colour at my ironmonger but it is still the same, just a different colour that's all.

Thanks for the heads up on the new pictures, haven't been to any forum in a while.
The big 109 is coming along great, pretty quickly compared to some of your previous builds, especially considering how brittle the plastic is. Can't wait to see how the wings turn out.

Work done on the wheel wells. The sides were covered in canvas with a central zipper and lacing. Not easy to reproduce due to the shape of the wheel well which unlike that of other 109 models is not round. I made them using milliput. Zipper is engraved into the primer and the lacing is individual small pieces of stretched sprue glued in place. Very time consuming but it is the only thing that worked.
Detail close up of the zipper and the lacing.
Next up general view of the blob of milliput inside the wings
general view of the complete wheel well

The wheel wells look great, not a simple matter to try to work that zipper detail in. Makes more sense now that I can see what you were describing to me.

Thanks for looking and your kind comments guys. Glad you like the work, very hard going but a definite joy. Never worked in such a huge scale before so all the detail needs to be there.

Thanks to all for looking and commenting. Please point out anything you think is not right. that's what this is all about. Here is another update. Wings are 'stressed' and riveted. working on some detail to the underwing radiators. The wings were slotted so that the radiator fit in the thickness of the wing. the moving adjustable flap was remade in aluminium sheet, the kit part being way too thick. Now only hinges and actuating mechanism remains..and oh yes, there was a fuel dump pipe at the rear of the radiators too.

Thanks Wayne, you are doing a more difficult job the kit is smaller and the parts not that good a fit and you are really bringing them to life.

Hi All, radiators are done. Working on the leading edge slats now, want to lower them, it was their natural position when the aircraft was parked. Here are the radiators.

Great work on the wings & radiators. What did you use for the radiators? Looks good. The stressed skin looks really good on this larger scale.

Thanks guys, i used band aid for the radiator front and rears. Actually it is a very strong brand called elastoplast and i have used it before for radiators, works really well when painted.
